One year after his first Formula 1 experience in a Minardi Norbert Siedler is
preparing for his maiden test in a 750 hp Champcar on the Miami-Raceway at
Homestead next Tuesday (22nd Feb.).
Two years ago the Austrian hotshoe had already been in contact with Walker
Racing, the team of former Penske VP Derrick Walker, and now the time has come
for taking the first laps in the quickest American single-seater.
,,We definitely want to get a clear picture of this series", says Siedler,
looking forward to show his driving skills and convinced that Champcar could be
an option for him, after Gerry Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven have taken over its
management. Two million race attendees, action-packed events and live coverage
on the NBC and CBS prove that the former Indycar-Series is on the way up again.
Even in Europe the situation has changed positively after a live-TV package with
Eurosport has been announced recently. ,,The series is extremely well promoted
and therefore it would be a perfect marketing platform for Norberts sponsors",
claims his manager, Edi Nikolic, "but there are also some other discussions up
in the air, one even combined with a testing package in Formula 1."
Within the next 3 weeks Siedler wants to make his choice.
