0.004s seperate Briscoe from Kanaan
source: irl.racing-live.com - ORS / CAPSIS International The IndyCar Series returned open wheel racing to the historic Watkins Glen International race track today in grand fashion. The area has long been a hotbed for world class open wheel racing, as The Glen hosted the United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980. CART also raced at the facility with Indy Racing League driver's coach Rick Mears winning the last major open wheel race at the facility in 1981. The original Watkins Glen Grand Prix Circuit, which dates back to 1948, was a 6.6 mile road race through the streets of Watkins Glen. Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves took turns toppling any previous track records but it was ultimately rookie Ryan Briscoe that set the standard as a new page was written in the history books. Briscoe was quickest in both sessions, turning a lap in 1 minute 33.0095 seconds in the morning session for an average speed of 130.438 miles per hour. In the rain shortened afternoon session he continued to dominate, setting the pace with a lap of 1 minute 31.7200 seconds / 132.272 mph. "I had a good day. It was amazingly fun driving around this fantastic race track. It's so fast and challenging. It was great fun."
