Except that the Lola B2/00 first introduced in '02 has become the chassis of choice, in part because of the demise of Lola's primary competition -- Reynard Motorsport -- but mainly owing to the B2/00's superior performance, particularly from an aerodynamic standpoint. In '03, several teams competed with Reynards and Ryan Hunter-Reay even managed to drive American Spirit Team Johansson's version to victory at Surfers Paradise. Last year, Walker Racing and Mi-Jack/Conquest soldiered on with Reynards (although the latter also ran a Lola for Justin Wilson and ditched its Reynard in favor of a second Lola at mid-season). In December, Walker Racing bowed to the inevitable and acquired Rahal/Letterman Racing's cache of Lolas for the upcoming season, insuring Lola a de facto monopoly on the 2005 Champ Car World Series.
