NASCAR Canadian Tire: Scott Steckly wins in SaskatoonScott Steckly charged from the rear of the field and won the Velocity Prairie Thunder presented at a sold out Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon Wednesday night.
Steckly lost an engine in practice and was not able to make repairs prior to qualifying, forcing him to start in the 18th position. However, on lap 128 he was able to move past Don Thomson Jr. to take the race lead. Steckly led the final 37 laps beat Don Thomson Jr to the line by 3.311 seconds while DJ Kennington finished third. Series leader Andrew Ranger who qualified fifth only managed to cross the finish line in eighth. Ranger was running in 2nd place at one point, but lost a great deal of time during a pit stop that went wrong. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 is in action next on August 8 at Mosport Speedway for the Mosport 200. NCTS Velocity Prairie Thunder – Results 1. Scott Steckly Dodge 250 2.
