Pace cars have been an integral part of racing for nearly 100 years but the Champ Car Pace Car team carries the ideas to heights that never could have been imagined by those that watched the likes of Ralph DePalma and Eddie Rickenbacker all those years ago source: champcarworldseries.com The Champ Car Pace Car Team Featuring the Fast Lap Program is a one-of-a-kind entity in motor racing and has been supplying the series with top-notch race pacing as well as giving fans a breathtaking race experience for over 20 seasons. The Fast Lap team is unique in that it is made up of an all-female driving crew who not only pace every Champ Car race, but also take customers and dignitaries on a hair-raising top-speed ride around the tracks of the series in some of Ford's most muscular machines. Drivers Allison Altzman, Gail Truess, Kelly Williams, Linda Pobst, Pattie Mayer, Stacy Kuhn and Trisha Williams are not only long-time members of the Fast Lap team, but are also accomplished professional racers in their own right. The vehicles of the Fast Lap program are as unique as the women driving them, and provide the Ford Motor Company with a platform to show off its latest and greatest cars. Ford provides Champ Car with several SVT (Special Vehicle Technology) models to use as pace cars, including the new Mustang, Focus and the Lightning F-150 pickup truck. In addition, Ford also uses the Fast Lap program to show off special cars like the GT40 that was unveiled in Cleveland in 2003 and the new Mustang that paced the race in Laguna Seca last season.
