Five wins from 18 starts for #4 Dallara - Panther Racing has set a reserve of $100,000 source: irl.racing-live.com Panther Racing has placed its back-to-back IndyCar Series Championship winning No. 4 Pennzoil Dallara on internet auction site eBay, with the top bidder set to collect one of the most successful racecars in open-wheel racing history. The chassis, which started 18 Indy Racing League events with Scott Goodyear (4) and Sam Hornish, Jr. (14), is completely assembled and prepared to run. Of the car's 18 career starts, 12 were podium finishes, and included five victories and two Indianapolis 500 appearances. It led a total of 637 laps during its tenure, and helped collect a total of $2,090,725 in prize money. "This is going to be a hard car to part with," Panther co-owner John Barnes said. "We had somebody that was interested in buying it and the deal didn't go through, so we had already had it in our minds that we going to sell it. Plus, we've got five owners over here that are in love with it and it wouldn't be any good split into five pieces." Goodyear drove the car to its first victory at Texas Motor Speedway in 2000, and Hornish recorded four of his team-record 11 wins behind the wheel. "2001 and 2002 were dream seasons for Panther Racing and Sam Hornish Jr. This car represents a huge part of our heritage and winning ways," Panther co-owner Doug Boles said. "What makes it really special is that this particular car crossed the finish line in 2001 (at Chicago) and 2002 (at Texas) to clinch championships, and with Scott Goodyear at the wheel to clinch second place in the 2000 championship."
