With Rocketsports Racing in Milwaukee source: Rocketsports Racing After sitting at the track in cold temperatures yesterday anxiously awaiting his first run on an oval, Nicky Pastorelli was able to strap into the #8 Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone and test today with the Rocketsports Racing team as they worked on preparing for the upcoming event at the famed Milwaukee Mile in early June. Pastorelli had a lot of work to do in one day, as he had to acclimate himself with an oval track and figure out what kind of set-up on the car best suited his driving style. The main goal was to give him enough time on the track during the test at the renowned one-mile oval so that he felt comfortable in the car. Running over 185 laps, Pastorelli recorded his fastest lap around the Milwaukee Mile at 23.9 seconds. "It was good that we had the opportunity to run on the oval in Milwaukee, as it was a very nice day and warmer than it was yesterday - the day we were scheduled to run," said Pastorelli in regards to the test. I think that the test went well because I was able to get an idea of what it is like to run on an oval. The Rocketsports team helped me out a lot in terms of getting acquainted to driving on an oval and we ran as many laps as we could so that I could get enough practice. The main goal of this test was for me to experience an oval and help the team prepare for the upcoming race here in Milwaukee in June, and we were able to accomplish both goals in one day." Next up for the team is Round Two of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford in Houston, Texas. The return to the Houston market is well anticipated, as the series last competed on the downtown streets of Houston in 2001. The new edition of the Champ Car Houston Grand Prix will take place at Reliant Park, which will offer a 1.7-mile temporary street circuit. The event will be held on Saturday night, May 13, under the lights as the only night race on the 2006 Champ Car World Series schedule.
