PRE-RACE NOTES AND QUOTES
Patrick Carpentier | #7 Indeck
Forsythe Racing | Lola/Ford
"I had a long and hard race in Monterrey [Mexico] at the
beginning of the season and after a hard battle with Mario Dominguez I finished
fourth - so there is definitely unfinished business for me to get onto the
podium this time in Mexico! And the championship points are close between me
and Paul [Tracy], so I'll be looking for a strong race and as many points as
possible to finish the season. Mexico City is a great place to end the Champ
Car season - the fans love our racing and the crowds are always huge here, like
in Canada ... and the Mexican people are really friendly and hospitable; the
Mexican sponsors get behind their drivers and teams and the racing is great at
this track too!"
Paul Tracy | #1 Indeck Forsythe
Racing | Lola/Ford
Defending Race Winner
"The Mexican fans are great - they really understand and
embrace Champ Car racing; the best and most competitive open-wheel racing in
North America, and with Rodolfo [Lavin] on the team this year with Corona
Forsythe Racing its given me an even greater insight into the passion for racing
in Mexico and the competitive nature of the Mexican fans and the leading Mexican
sponsors. I've carried Corona's logos on my front wings all season and so I
definitely feel an extra desire to do well in Mexico City, Corona's hometown! I
like the long and fast straightaway and deep braking at the Mexico City track ...
there are overtaking opportunities on the track and I'll be doing everything
possible to repeat my 2003 victory here and improve my championship position in
front of what will be a huge Mexican crowd for the last race of the 2004
Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford."
