Paul Tracy is sticking with the one who brought him to the dance source: thestar.com The Scarborough native said he's reached a verbal agreement with team owner Gerald Forsythe on a new contract and is awaiting the paper work to be completed so that he can put his signature to it. The 35-year-old defending Champ Car series champion's decision to remain with Forsythe Racing is another leg up for the Open Wheel Racing Series, which appears to be slowly, but steadily pulling itself out of the quagmire that it was sinking in under the ownership of the now-defunct CART. "I like what I'm doing here," said Tracy. "I've had great success with Gerry and it's great to see the series growing. It's starting to come around. The ground under the series is getting harder. When they got started it was on quicksand." There had been speculation that Tracy would jump to NASCAR, but says that's not going to happen. "I don't want to do 40 races a year," he said. Tracy said he feels it's important for the top drivers to remain in the series. "It doesn't help if the top guys go," he said. "I see the series growing and I want to help it grow." Molson Indy general manager Bob Singleton was delighted to hear of Tracy's decision to remain in Champ Cars.
