Daytona testing wraps up, P1 again for Team Penske source: irl-live.com The IndyCar Series wrapped up two days of testing at Daytona International Speedway two hours early as afternoon rains soaked the track. With so little time left in the session, no teams felt the reward of an extra hour of testing was worth tearing up equipment before the season even began. "There wasn't real a reason to run," noted Sam Hornish. "Particularly for the guys that just ran the Rolex 24 we just had the chance to drive eight hours in the rain if we wanted to..." Hornish was referring to the Rolex 24 at Daytona where eight of the seventeen drivers testing at Daytona today raced on this past Saturday and Sunday. In a surprise to no one, the Penske duo of Hornish and Helio Castroneves led the second day of testing but it was Tony Kanaan who set quick time over the days in a last minute race for bragging rights until the teams gather once again for the next open test at Homestead. The test was on a modified version of the Rolex 24 course, a 2.72 mile ten turn configuration that saw the IndyCars reaching speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour despite only racing on the high banks from turn three to the turn in point to the road course between the starting line and turn one. According to Hornish the test went well for his team as they prepare to defend their IndyCar Series Championship.
