Craig Pollock figured he would eventually own a racing team. But until a couple of months ago, he thought it would be in Formula 1. source: CART.com : John Oreovicz Pollock, a Scotsman who manages Jacques Villeneuve's career and was a co-founder of the BAR Formula 1 team, set out to buy the Arrows F1 team, only to have the deal fall through at the last minute. Instead, Pollock and venture capitalist Kevin Kalkhoven teamed up to form PK Racing, which will field rookie Patrick Lemarie in Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford. The other key part of the equation is Russ Cameron, who kept the nucleus of the defunct PacWest team together. Cameron will manage the PK Racing effort, run out of the old PacWest shop on Indianapolis' northwest side. Lemarie is unfamiliar to most American racing fans, but for Pollock, he's a known quantity. The 35-year old Frenchman has served as a part-time test driver for BAR for the last four years. "Patrick has always impressed me tremendously, mostly with his setup work at BAR," Pollock said. "It's a question of dedication. His skills were never questioned, because at BAR we knew how he compared against the other drivers. It became very clear to me Patrick was very solid. He never went off the track and never demolished any cars, and that's important for us as a start-up team." Lemarie was well off the pace during the first two days of Champ Car Spring Training, but he improved into the 52-second bracket on the final day. He admits that having not raced regularly for three years, he's bound to be a little rusty.
