PKV Racing announces driver lineup for 2004 Champ Car Wolr Series qith NII Holdings and its subsidiary Comunicaciones Nextel De Mexico sponsored two-car team source: cart.com Indianapolis-based PKV Racing, formerly PK Racing, announced today its plans for the 2004 Champ Car World Series with an expanded two-car effort featuring 1996 Champ Car World Series champion Jimmy Vasser and Mexican rookie Roberto Gonzalez, with primary sponsorship from mobile communications leader NII Holdings, Inc. [NASDAQ:NIHD (formerly Nextel International)]. Vasser's role will also include part-ownership in the team with venture capitalist Dan Pettit and team co-founder Kevin Kalkhoven. "The 2004 Champ Car season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and challenging endeavors in my career in business," said PKV Racing and Champ Car principal Kalkhoven. Vasser, one of the most recognized names in all of open wheel racing, joins the team for his 13th season of Champ Car competition in dual role that will see the American pilot contest the series title in the #12 NII Holdings Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone entry, in addition to holding a stake in the second-year organization.
