After wet second day in Edmonton
source: Rocketsports Racing - Heather Haupt Rocketsports Racing driver Timo Glock will officially start as the top rookie in Sunday's Grand Prix of Edmonton after the second day of on-track activity was hindered by rain, causing the final grid lineup to be determined by Friday's provisional qualifying times. The Rocketsports team stepped outside of their hotel this morning with a rude awakening of heavy rain and cool temperatures. The morning session had to be postponed until the afternoon as a supportive crowd anxiously awaited the Champ Cars' return onto the 1.973-mile street course of Finning International Speedway due to standing water on the newly formulated track. Appreciating the support from over 66,000 Canadian race fans today, Rocketsports welcomed a number of onlookers into their garage area to witness up-close and personal the #8 DHL Global Mail and #31 Cytomax Sport Drink machines and tour the team transporters. Crew members chatted with the locals and drivers Glock and Hunter-Reay came out to sign some autographs, as a thank you for their overwhelming support and interest in the Champ Car World Series as it makes its debut in Alberta, Canada. Then the team got back to business, as changes were made in the day's schedule sending the Champ Cars out at 1:30 p.m. for a 45-minute practice session before final qualifying. The rain stopped, but the track remained wet and the Rocketsports duel was found up on top of the timing and scoring sheets immediately in the practice session. As the afternoon activities continued, the track gradually dried off and the Rocketsports stablemates were unable to improve their times from yesterday. Those slower track times and red flags were the two major factors in the unchanged results from yesterday's provisionally qualifying, where Glock will start ninth and Hunter-Reay 14th in tomorrow's Grand Prix of Edmonton.
