Rossi to Race in F1 for Manor
American driver Alexander Rossi will be behind the wheel at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, after signing a deal to race in five events this season for the Manor Marussia F1 team. The first American to race a Formula One track since Scott Speed in 2007, Rossi will be replacing Roberto Merhi and join teammate Will Stevens on the grid. The announcement came from Renault chairman and chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn, who added that though efforts continue to have Renault take over the troubled Lotus team, it is possible that the manufacturer may walk away from Formula One altogether. Read more: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/34269127 NHRA Heavyweights Alan Johnson Racing Suspending Operations News out of the drag racing world this week that former champion NHRA Top Fuel team Alan Johnson Racing (AJR) is suspending all operations. The 2013 overall champions were suffering through a difficult 2015 season on the track and off it, surviving through 18 races on temporary funding. Alan Johnson stated however that long-term funding issues left the team with little choice but to pull the plug on its activities. After coming close to bleeding to death in the accident, during which a piece of suspension pierced the driver’s leg, Hinchcliffe is nearing full form, and hopes to start practicing soon for a return to IndyCar in 2016.
