Rahal Letterman Racing has submitted a three-car entry for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 later this year as the team aims to secure victory in the race for the second time. source: crash.net Buddy Rice, winner of the race back in 2004, will be joined by Danica Patrick and Paul Dana for the race with Rice keen to overcome the disappointment of last seasons race when he was forced to sit on the sidelines and watch after an accident in the run-up to the event left him unable to compete. "I have been waiting an entire year for a return to Indianapolis," he said. "The frustration of last season can be summed up in the problems we had at the Speedway. Watching last year's Indy 500 from the pits was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my career. There is no other race in the world like Indy and I can't wait to get back to the Speedway." With the defending champion unavailable, it was left to Patrick to capture the headlines at the 'Brickyard' last spring as she qualified fourth, before leading 19 laps in the race on the way to a fourth place finish and the 'Rookie of the Year' title. She will once again drive the #16 Argent Mortgage Honda/Panoz/Firestone at the Speedway. "The entire Indy experience is something I will remember as long as I live," she said. "Looking back now the month seems like a blur, but every day I live in the aftermath of Indy. I have thought a lot about last year and I realize how close we were to winning the pole and the race. I am looking forward to another shot at Indy." Dana, like Rice, was unable to compete at Indianpolis last season following an accident, but in his case it proved to be an injury that brought his season to a premature end. Keen to fulfil his dream of competing in the Indy 500, the rookie will be at the wheel of the #17 Rahal Letterman Racing/Team Ethanol Honda/Panoz/Firestone for his first attempt at the race.
