Patrick Carpentier: #83 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone
Alex Barron and Patrick Carpentier returned to the famed 2.5-mile oval at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway looking to find more speed. Still unable to come up
with the kind of numbers they're looking for, both drivers saw limited action
turning a total of 68 laps combined.
Carpentier ran 21 laps with a top speed of 219.867 mph, while Barron took 47
laps with a top speed of 219.077 mph.
"We're struggling with some handling issues. The car is just not responding the
way we would like it to with the changes that we're making. We're making some
major changes, which is why we didn't go back out after running early in
practice. Hopefully, we'll turn the corner tomorrow," Carpentier said.
Barron faced similar struggles during the day. He went back out late in the day,
only to have his run interrupted by rain.
"We went out in the morning with all of the changes we made overnight, and we
were heading in the right direction, but then the track got hot. Then we lost
something where we had to replace the engine. We made some big changes and went
back out, and we were heading in the right direction, but then it started to
rain, " Barron said.
Experience a ride in the IndyCar two seater
Each day on track, Red Bull Cheever Racing is taping its "Inside Scoop"
segments, which are posted on the team Web site (www.redbullcheeverracing.com).
Spotter for the #83 car, Davey Hamilton serves as the host, but he also drives
the IndyCar two seater, which takes fans for laps on series tracks. Today's
"Inside Scoop" segment features Hamilton behind the wheel at the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway and takes Web site visitors along for the ride.
