The Red Bull Cheever Racing team was back at it today at Infineon Raceway trying to improve on yesterday's performance in preparation for tomorrow's race. source: redbullcheeverracing.com Infineon Practice / Qualifying Report Alex Barron: #51 Red Bull/Dallara/Toyota/Firestone Patrick Carpentier: #83 Red Bull/Dallara/Toyota/Firestone Both Alex Barron and Patrick Carpentier turned up the heat and topped yesterday's speeds during the morning practice session and secured solid spots on the grid during the afternoon qualifying period. Barron remained the team's quick driver in today's action. During practice, he turned a top lap time of 1:17.1148 (107.372 mph). He then came back during his afternoon qualifying run and put in a lap of 1:17.8679 (106.334 mph), which puts him 10th to start the race. "I was looking forward to qualifying because we did really well in practice this morning. We were a little bit slower than we thought we would be but the track is heating up. I probably left a couple of tenths on the track, but it is a technical track, so I am pretty happy with the run. It's refreshing for me to come and run a road course like this after so many oval track races in a row. This facility is really nice. They have done a lot of work here. It's refreshing to do something different," Barron said. Carpentier again only trailed his teammate by a slim margin. During practice, he ran a lap of 1:17.8298 (106.386 mph). His qualifying run of 1:18.0621 (106.069 mph) would have surpassed his earlier effort if he hadn't had lost grip of the track in one of the turns during the run. Nonetheless, his effort places him 12th on the grid.
