Red Bull Cheever Racing hopes to continue its recent success in tomorrow's ABC Supply Company - AJ Foyt 225
source: Red Bull Cheever Racing In order to do so, the team got back to work today with practice and qualifying at The Milwaukee Mile. Both Alex Barron and Patrick Carpentier improved on their speeds from yesterday, and put their cars in solid positions for the race. Barron, driver of the Toyota-powered #51 car, qualified seventh after posting a speed of 166.844 mph in this afternoon's qualifying session. This was slightly lower than his best speed of the weekend (166.858 mph), which he posted in this morning's practice session. "The car was pretty good, and the track was really similar to practice. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result because we had a bit of a gear shifter problem going into one on the first qualifying lap. We thought that we could have gone a little bit quicker, but there was a bit of a problem when I tried to downshift, so we're going to have to check it out. The car balance is really good right now. I think we have a pretty good idea of what we're going to do race setup wise, but we keep hearing that it's supposed to be really hot tomorrow, so that will change things a bit for us," Barron said. Carpentier came in just behind his teammate, posting a speed of 164.376 mph. This puts the #83 car in 14th position to begin tomorrow's race. "We've been struggling with a car that's pushing way too much on us right now, and we haven't been able to fix it so far. We tried to go toward Alex's setup between the morning practice session and qualifying, but it was still pushing on us. Around this track, the car definitely needs to be more neutral. I think we have a good idea of what's happening, so I think we'll make it better for the race," said Carpentier, who is the current IndyCar Series leader in laps completed. A final practice session was originally scheduled for this afternoon, but rain forced its cancellation. As a result, the session is being moved to tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Then, Red Bull Cheever Racing will continue its drive toward victory lane in the ABC Supply Company - AJ Foyt 225, which will be broadcast live on ESPN at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).
