Fresh off of successful testing
source: redbullcheeverracing.com Alex Barron: #51 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone Patrick Carpentier: #83 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone After a disappointing Texas race, Red Bull Cheever Racing went to work last week, participating in tests at Watkins Glen International and Richmond International Raceway. During the Watkins Glen test, road-course veteran, Patrick Carpentier posted a time that was 10th fastest in his first trip to the New York circuit. Both drivers reported learning a lot of valuable information at the test, which will be beneficial in the September race. The team was in Richmond last Friday participating in a test held by Toyota. Since it was an engine manufacturer test, speeds and times weren't released, but the team was able to get in a full day of practice to work on improving the car's balance, which is extremely important on shorter tracks like Richmond. The experience also was beneficial for Carpentier whose only prior experience on the track was in a rental car during a test day earlier in the month, which was cancelled because of rain. The team's take on Richmond International Raceway "Since this is the shortest circuit we run on all year, you're always running in traffic, so the race tends to change very quickly. I think the cars are definitely going to be quicker than last year because we have more grip and motor development also has improved. Any time you're searching for more speed, this kind of track can play into your hands. If you set yourself up properly early in the race, you'll have a chance for a good finish." - Alex Barron
