Texas Race Report
source: redbullcheeverracing.com It was a difficult weekend at Texas Motor Speedway for Red Bull Cheever Racing, but both cars are coming home safely after the Bombardier Learjet 500. Alex Barron and Patrick Carpentier were both able to steer clear of trouble despite four cautions early in the race. Both drivers started the race deep in the field, but were able to make some gains by capitalizing on restarts and clean pit stops. The effort resulted in a 14th place finish for Barron in the #51 car and a 16th place for Carpentier in the #83 car. Barron, who turned 35 today, was pleased with the team's effort, but the result wasn't what he was looking for after recent success at the track. "We started out the race, and we were a little bit loose, but we were able to get the car back underneath us. I ran 80 percent of the race flat out, but we just couldn't move forward in the pack. I made some passes on restarts, but again I couldn't play offense. It just makes for a long race. The guys had really good pit stops, and we made a big gain there at the end under green. But to work this hard this weekend and finish 14th is disappointing," Barron said. Carpentier moved up in the field early in the race, peaking at 12th before falling back in the pack. He also was pleased with the crew's effort despite the finish.
