For years rumors have circulated that Red Bull might play a bigger role in CART, and now Champ Car. Some had even suggested a tie in as series title sponsor source: paddocktalk.com For years, Red Bull had instead supported Eddie Cheever's IRL IndyCar team. But with Red Bull's recent departure from the team, it's time to fire up the Red Bull to Champ Car rumors again, if its not the truth, we must simply because its fun. Ultimo Segundo is reporting that Red Bull will become the primary sponsor for the RuSPORT Champ Car team, and will grace the sidepods of both cars. The PaddockTalk Perspective: The one key sticking point we see in all of this is the relationship between Kevin Kalkhoven and Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz. One might remember reports of Kalkhoven flying to Europe to persuade the Red Bull F1 team to keep the Cosworth F1 engine for the 2006 season. Once landed, he was told their was nothing to talk about and that a deal had already been made with Ferrari. Seems a bit odd, to treat someone in that way, and then support their series, but then that hasn't stopped the rumormill from churning out prophecies that say exactly that. But then again, maybe Red Bull has simply found a good partner in the engaging Carl Russo. He has two talented drivers, and spends his time talking up the Champ Car series, and the thrill of racing rather than talking down other series. Or maybe this is all just the same old bunk, and the only place we'll continue to see Red Bull is in F1, and on Allmendinger's helmet. Enjoy...
