Podium Potential for Rocketsports Down Under As Team Prepares to Finish 2007 Champ Car Season on a High Note source: rocketsportsracing.com It is time to go Champ Car racing again as Rocketsports Racing prepares for the final two races of the 2007 Champ Car World Series season. Next up after a few weeks off, is the most anticipated event on the Champ Car calendar, the Lexmark Indy 300 on the streets of Surfers Paradise, Australia, October 19-21, 2007. The Lexmark Indy is four days, four nights of pure power Down Under. It is a race, a party, an eye full and an ear full. With the Champ Cars and Australia's V8 Supercars, and ninety-six hours of on-and-off track entertainment in one of the world's most famous beach cities, this is the event that everyone in the Champ Car paddock looks forward to each year. While the sights are beautiful, the track is one of the most challenging streets courses the Champ Car drivers face. The 2.795-mile temporary street course consists of 12 turns and is the longest street course on the schedule, making it very demanding for these superstar racers. Alex Tagliani, Rocketsports driver of the #8 PBS Equities/Rocketsports Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone, knows this all too well and has spent the last month training extra hard for this event. This is a track that has a bit of unique history in the Champ Car World Series. A series record of sixteen different drivers have visited victory lane in the 16 years Champ Car has raced in Australia. While no driver has won twice at this event, Tagliani has finished on the podium in two of seven appearances. Most recently he finished third after starting ninth on the grid in 2006, which matched his best finish on the streets of the Gold Coast after previously recording a third-place result in 2001. The Rocketsports team also makes its return to Oz after recording a second-place result in 2006 with Mario Dominguez. The team is hoping that the double podium momentum at this venue, with its past result and current driver Tagliani's, will lead to a positive top three finish together.
