After jetting back to Denver following the Monterrey Grand Prix in Monterrey, Mexico, the RuSPORT drivers jumped right back into the community that is home to the Champ Car World Series team. Tuesday morning A.J. Allmendinger and Justin Wilson joined representatives of the Centrix Financial Grand Prix of Denver in promoting the upcoming Elephant Rock Cycling Festival, to be held on Sunday, June 5, 2005. The event is a charity fundraiser for the Rise School of Denver, a nonprofit organization providing the highest quality of early childhood education services for children with developmental disabilities like Down Syndrome. The institution is Denver's only school devoted to toddlers and preschoolers with developmental disabilities. Justin and A.J. signed autographs for the children, posed for photos, and helped some possible future race car drivers get a feel for the inside of a Champ Car cockpit. "I live here in this community, and even though I don't have any kids, I understand how important a place like the Rise School is for Denver," said Allmendinger. "This organization improves the quality of life for many in Denver, and if I can help, I'm here." "It's great to be able to make a kid's day by actually getting to get inside of a race car. They were so excited," added Wilson. "If RuSPORT can help raise the profile of this event and the Rise School, we're happy to help."
