Team Penske driver Sam Hornish Jr., the 2001 and 2002 Indy Racing League
champion, will be honored at the Friday, January 14, 2005 Wisconsin Motorsports
Charities Inc. (WMCI) Recognition Dinner at the Country Springs Hotel (formerly
The County Inn), Waukesha
source: Road America
The 14th annual WMCI dinner will begin with a 5:00 p.m. cocktail hour and
autograph session, with the dinner and awards program commencing at 8:00 p.m.
As in previous years, the dinner will give race fans an opportunity to enjoy an
evening with motorsports celebrities, raffles and a racing related event in
January in Wisconsin, while raising money for Ranch Community Services (RCS), a
rehabilitation center for developmentally disabled children and adults. In the
past 13 years, WMCI has raised $360,000 for RCS, mainly through the annual
recognition dinner.
Also being honored at the dinner will be Reed Sorenson, who will follow-up a
fifth-place finish in 2004 ASA points by competing in ARCA and the NASCAR Busch
Series for Ganassi Racing in 2005. Terry Lingner of Lingner Productions, the
pioneer racing production group that brought weekly racing to ESPN in the early
days of the network will also be honored. Arthur Diaz, the 2004 Mid-Atlantic and
Southeast Regional CCS overall motorcycle champion, has also been added to the
2005 dinner line-up.
Additional honorees will be announced in the near future as testing schedules
are firmed up for various sanctioning bodies and teams.
Once again, Milwaukee Honda dealer and F-1 commentator David Hobbs, and radio
and TV announcer and Milwaukee Mile PR director Jim Tretow will co-emcee the
event.
A limited number of tables and individual tickets remain available for the
dinner, which is expected to be a sell-out.
