Champ Car veteran Oriol Servia will replace the injured Bruno Junqueira in
Newman-Haas Racing's Championship leading entry this weekend in
Milwaukee
source: crash.net Servia, who's full time ride with Dale Coyne Racing appears to be on hold for the time being, has only been confirmed for Saturday's Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225, but with Junqueira expected to be out of action for at least the next couple of races, this is a golden opportunity for the 30 year-old Spaniard. While Junqueira has been well enough to issue a statement indicating that he will be back in the cockpit as soon as doctors allow, the two-fractured vertebra he suffered in his crash with AJ Foyt IV in last Sunday's Indianapolis 500 could rule him out for several months. "It is a great opportunity for me to be able to step into the PacifiCare car that is leading the championship," said Servia, who has a pair of second place finishes to his credit during a Champ Car career that began with PPI Motorsport in 2000. "I'm grateful that Newman/Haas Racing thought of me. Bruno is my friend and I felt really bad for him when the accident happened but I know he will get well soon and we can cycle together again." "We have watched Oriol race over the years in the Champ Car series and believe we can put together a competitive effort with him this weekend despite the limited time to prepare," said Carl Haas, co-owner with Paul Newman of Newman/Haas Racing. "Oriol was running in second place in Mexico and we believe he is a good fit for our programme in Milwaukee." Servia's replacement in the Dale Coyne Racing fold has yet to be announced.
