Busy Tag on the run Although there may be no race on for a couple of weeks, it's not all lounging around and watching TV for the #33 car driver. Beside media commitments and promotional appearances, Alex is always looking into the future and towards that next race weekend. Since the last race in Monterrey, Mexico his motivation to succeed has sky-rocketed, pushing him to be in even better physical shape. Training and the right diet are a big part of his life, but he is not a slave to his ambitions. Alex admits that he enjoys training, but mainly because he knows that with out it he wouldn't be able to keep up with the job that he does. "I could never be a gym junkie, training with heavy weights for the better part of my day. I like to vary my training, running, biking and swimming. Weights are important, but more for tone and strength." "I work together with my trainer to get the right plan for my needs; a high level of cardiovascular fitness and endurance stamina. I need that to be able to think quickly in complicated situations, so it's mental too." "My wife also pushes me to train harder.
We develop different ways to train and get fitter and she helps motivate
me to keep on training at this high level." Some days Alex will do a mini-triathlon against the clock, just to push himself. He also enjoys rollerblading around the neighborhood and the odd game of tennis with friends.
