In the Rocketsports/ Johnson Controls #33 car source: Bronte Tagliani The weekend was going well for the Rocketsports team, after
coming back from a slow start on Friday. Qualifying
8th, they brought the car up to speed and started 3rd on
the grid for the race on Sunday. Pending poor weather and rain forecasts held off, allowing the sun to shine trough and down onto the track by the bay. A poor start by Jourdain, left Alex in 4th after the first turn. "Michel had a bad start, allowing Paul to get ahead; I
can't pass Jourdain on the start, so I was stuck behind him. Bruno just
followed Paul into the first corner and got the better position." Alex was running fast lap times despite being stuck behind the #1 car, until he was able to make a pass and start to catch the leaders. 3rd position was the highest that the #33 car got in the race, after which fuel pick-up became a serious concern for the team. "The guys were putting in the right amount of fuel, but the
car was coughing in the back straight and I felt we were going to run out before
the stop, so we pitted early in the first window.
It happened again in the second window and we had to put in an extra stop
at the end not to run out. We're
not sure exactly what it was." The small problem with the fuel pump led to a disappointing
end to the weekend: "We had a fast car, and I know we could have done really
well, but these things happen. It
was a consistent race and the team is working well together, we are ready to
move on to the next race in
