Only 28 laps for TAG and Rocketsports in Lausitz source: cart.com Rocketsports driver Alex Tagliani started this afternoon's German 500 in ninth position on the grid, confident and looking forward to the 154 laps ahead of him. "I got really excited. This was the best oval car I've ever had. At the start of the race, I stayed on the outside because it was so easy and quick, and went from ninth to fourth immediately," said Tagliani. After only 28 laps into the race, Tagliani sensed some problems with the #33 Johnson Controls Lola and made an immediate pit stop. The Rocketsports crew set to work on the problem but couldn't sort it in time to get Tagliani back in the race. "It's absolutely frustrating, but there's nothing we can do when mechanical problems set us back," reported Tagliani. Despite the obvious disappointment, Tagliani toured the Rocketsports garage and consoled each crew member saying, "No worries Brother, our time is coming." With the same positive encouragement he greeted his engineers saying "we'll come back strong." And with that Tagliani and the Rocketsports crew look ahead to the Milwaukee Mile set for May 31, 2003. Other highlights from today's German 500 were an all-American style marching parade complete with cheerleaders, American football players and marching brass bands playing When The Saints Go Marching In. Tagliani and the rest of the current Champ Car World Series drivers watched Alex Zanardi complete the 13 laps remaining from his 2001 race. Tagliani was proud of Zanardi and moved by his inspirational courage and progress. Start/Finish: 9/DNF (Mechanical) Qualifying Recap PM Qualifying Results- 9th Quickest at 37.732 seconds (193.014
