IRL IndyCar® Series teams have returned from the
holidays to begin final preparations for the 2005 season and the series' first
Open Test January 19-22 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
A majority of IndyCar Series teams are expected to participate in the test,
which will consist of two road course testing days and one day on the oval.
Teams will test the series' road-course package on the 2.21-mile road course on
January 19-20 before moving to the 1.5-mile, high-banked oval on January 22.
IndyCar Series Media Day activities will be conducted on January 21.
Initial testing for the Menards Infiniti Pro Series has been changed from
January 18 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which would have been the earliest test
in series history, to February 8 at Phoenix International Raceway.
"The off-season has been very busy and very productive for those of us involved
with the Menards Infiniti Pro Series," said Roger Bailey, executive director of
the Menards Infiniti Pro Series. "Our teams and manufacturers continue to
feverishly prepare for the 2005 season, which will include our first races on
road and street courses. We're anxious to give everyone an opportunity on track
when we test at Phoenix in February."
