Though the 100,000 plus fans in attendance at last year's IRL IndyCar race at was the best out U.S. open-wheel turnout outside of the famed Indianapolis 500, TMS President Eddie Gossage isn't sold the series will return in 2007 source: paddocktalk.com - rumors In fact, according to the Dallas Morning News Gossage 'hopes they'll be back.' The big worry.... the very slight change in the IRL schedule that put Watkins Glen between the Indianapolis 500, and Texas. The same change that upset California Speedway officials, and ultimately led to their departure from the IndyCar 2006 schedule. But obviously, not every track on the schedule can be the race immediately after the Indianapolis 500... even if they all want to be. So was there anything good coming out of the South ? Gossage told the publication, "I still say IndyCars at TMS are the greatest racing you'll ever see." The PaddockTalk Perspective: They'll be a nice big crowd at Texas come June, just as there always is. We won't believe there will be any affect on the size of the crowd because it doesn't directly follow the Indy 500. That's just bunk. For 2007, the IRL and TMS will work something out, because if another 100,000 plus crowd shows up in June... both sides will look more than silly walking away from an event like that.
