The
trucks are headed west and the crew is soon to follow as the Fittipaldi-Dingman
Racing team prepares for the CART Champ Car World Series' west coast swing that
kicks off in Northern California this weekend at the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna
Seca. The picturesque 2.238-mile permanent facility will host the series'
return to road course racing after two consecutive oval races in Germany and
Milwaukee.
Fittipaldi-Dingman Racing team owner Emerson Fittipaldi is looking forward to
the upcoming event. "Laguna Seca is a special place," he said. "It's
a traditional track and I'm looking forward to our going there. Hopefully the
Reynard chassis will work well there. We were competitive in Milwaukee and
we're hoping that we can continue that trend at Laguna Seca."
While he enjoyed his first two experiences on ovals, rookie driver Tiago
Monteiro is eager to return to road course racing. The young driver hasn't
been to the famed track as yet, but knows its reputation for
excitement. "Laguna Seca is obviously an amazing track," said
Tiago. "It's going to be very demanding with its famous corkscrew
turn. I'm really looking forward to the event. I've heard it's an
amazing event with lots of fans. The team and Emerson have told me that
from their experience they think I'm going to love the next two events. They
think the tracks will suit my driving style with their long sweeping turns.
With the car, we can be low and competitive and I'm really looking forward
to getting to Laguna Seca and seeing for myself."
Team co-owner James Dingman is looking forward to helping Ford Motor Company
celebrate their 100th anniversary at this weekends event. "I'd like
to congratulate Ford Motor Company on 100 years of excellence. Fittipaldi-Dingman
Racingis proud to be competing in a series that utilizes such a great product as
Ford. This is a special race for Bill Ford and the rest of the Ford family
and we expect to put on a strong showing for our engine supplier. Hopefully
the team will build on our recent momentum and once again finish in the top
10."
