Tim Bridgman has had his first excursion in a 2005 Formula Toyota Atlantic car last week source: crash.net Bridgman, recently completed a rookie year in British Formula 3 and is evaluating his options for next season. He tested with Jensen Motorsport, a team with vast experience in the Formula Toyota Atlantic series. The 20-year-old tested for two days at the Savannah circuit near Atlanta, Georgia, and covered approximately 300 miles in unusually cold and windy conditions. Bridgman said the severe conditions took nothing away from the experience. "It was a really good couple of days of testing, the team were great," he confirmed. "I'm really happy with the way everything went and it was a great way to be introduced to that kind of racing car." The driving style of the Atlantic car is markedly different to the Formula 3 car, but Bridgman adapted quickly to the ground effects of the Atlantic chassis. He acknowledged his off-season training had paid dividends in helping to familiarise himself with the handling of the car. "It was a much more physical car to drive - it requires a very different driving style to anything I've previously driven and I am pleased with how I was able to respond," he added. Eric Jensen, team principal of Jensen Motorsport, said Bridgman was up for the challenge of a race win at Long Beach where the Champ Car Atlantic Championship kicks off next April. "From the first lap it was apparent that Tim is an extremely talented driver, who has both a good technical knowledge of race cars and a very professional approach," continued Jensen. "He clocked consistently competitive times over the two day test and appears to be one of the best new prospects if he did enter the Atlantic championship in 2006."
