Formula One rights holder and former team owner
Bernie Ecclestone does not believe that Indy Racing League founder Tony George
has made the right decision in starting his own IndyCar and Infiniti Pro team.
Ecclestone ran the Brabham Formula One outfit through much of the 1970s before
selling the team in 1988 to Alfa Romeo. George, who has already relinquished his
position as IRL President, founded Vision Racing which made its race debut at
Homestead-Miami finishing in 18th position with Ed Carpenter driving.
"It's difficult to stand back and be objective," the Indianapolis Star
report Ecclestone as saying. "You get in trouble when you try to look at things
objectively, Tony shouldn't do this."
George meanwhile said that Ecclestone was entitled to his opinion. Both share a
common interest in the US Grand Prix which is hosted at Indianapolis Motor
Speedway.
