Things have definitely changed for Champ Car at the annual Molson Toronto Grand Prix, and it is not looking as positive as it could. source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart Champ Car is now in complete control of race promotion at the historic venue, but for many it was a bumpier road than what the drivers experienced crashing over the railroad track in San Jose. It was clearly evident throughout the entire Exhibition grounds that not all was done well. The design and layout could have been put together in a much more fan friendly way. What once was an easy accessible area is now a chaotic mess. The layout is filled with dead ends which left fans wondering where they were and why has everything been moved. Sure, the new stadium in turn 10 caused the series to have less room to work with but should this be an acceptable excuse ? The new paddock area was a complete disaster with several of the backmarker teams left solitude in their own area parked quite far away from the elite teams such as Newman-Haas, Forsythe. The majority of the fans appeared to be not aware of the other paddock area and most only found out as they stumbled across it later in the weekend. To make matters even worse the exit at the end of the paddock area was usually fenced off with no official standing by to open the gate for the fans. So the fans had to walk all the way around the paddock back to the entrance to get out of the maze. It was very inconvenient, poorly planned, and a poor layout. In seasons past, the paddock was easily accessible from the turn 10 bridge but not any more. The team's hospitality are is now located there. That change also caused inconvenience for the fans who used to be able to access the paddock immediately after their V.I.P. pit walk thru and explore the paddock. Not so. Now they have to walk all the way around the hospitality area to get to the entrance, and then wander through the maze and back out the entrance again.
