Toyota Atlantic series premieres in San Jose
source: bessetteracing.com / toyotaatlantic.com / Michel Poirier-Defoy Antoine Bessette will tackle another temporary street circuit this coming weekend as the Toyota Atlantic championship breaks new ground in San Jose, California. The 23-year old driver from St-Bruno, Quebec openly admits he likes racing inside concrete walls. He was ahead of the pack in Long Beach all weekend and led 27 out of 32 laps. He came back from a fourth place start in Toronto to win his first race of the season. Although no driver has ever seen this new track, AB is very confident as the Atlantic circus heads into ninth race of the season. "I've always liked the challenge on this kind of track, says the driver who is second in the rookie standings. Temporary tracks are most of the time bumpy, they have curbs and manholes, the outer part of the track is off-camber, so your driving style is different and you have to find the limits of such tracks. Must have something to do with my rally and winter driving background. I don't know what San Jose will be all about because all we have seen is a diagram but I long to see what kind of challenge it represents. My engineer Bruce Potter and I have found the proper car setup on these occasions and I feel the #3 Unik Auto Design Atlantic car will be up to the task again this weekend." The San Jose Grand Prix will host the ninth round on the Toyota Atlantic calendar, a 35-lap race around the 14-turns 1.6-mile facility. AB will have two practice sessions Friday and Saturday at noon and two qualifying sessions on the same days at 4h15 PM. Warm-up will be Sunday morning at 11h00 Am and race is set for 2h15 PM ( all times ET). Antoine Bessette, the only Canadian to enter the 12-race series, is presently third in the standings.
