Here's two interesting changes that could, might, shall, would, or may affect the Champ Car 2006 season and possibly beyond source: paddocktalk.com In one corner of the world, SpeedTV is reporting a change in promoters at Montreal with Normand Legault being replaced by Alan Labrosse. Labrosse promoted the event from 2002-04. While rumors and speculation ran more rampant than fans, many pointed the boney finger of blame at Legault using words like 'sabotage'. While an interesting issue - and maybe Legault was trying to open the door for NASCAR in Canada, but we just don't know - it doesn't necessarily mean packed grandstands at this year's event. While excessive, the trend under Legault's leadership... was still following a trend leading downwards. In 2004, 133,000 attended over the three day weekend, in 2005 only 93,755 took time to attend. The 2004 - 133,000 number - was down significantly from 2003. Speaking of venues, and the future 2007 Champ Car schedule... SpeedTV reports that Joe Chrnelich is out, and has been replaced by John Clagett. Clagett has an SCCA background, and Trans-Am and will be the VP of Venue Development.
