Team Australia star Will Power has turned his first laps in Team Australia's new Panoz DP01 Champ Car at Sebring International Raceway on the second day of open Champ Car testing at the Florida circuit today. source: teamaustraliamotorsport.com The Queenslander completed 77 laps for a total of 127 miles (204.39 km) around the 1.65-mile (2.66 km) road course as the 2006 Roshfrans Rookie of the Year familiarised himself with the new car. The weather held out for the team as they continued to fine-tune the car. Team Australia continued to make a number of improvements and set-up changes and picked up speed throughout the day. Power clocked the ninth fastest lap with a time of 52.38 seconds in the first session and the eighth fastest lap time with 51.839 seconds in the second session with a combined 10th quickest time. Power will test in the #5 Aussie Vineyards Team Australia Panoz DP01 again tomorrow for the final round of Champ Car pre-season testing at Sebring this week. Will Power - #5 Aussie Vineyards Team Australia Panoz DP01 "We learned a lot more with the car today, but unfortunately we weren't as quick as we wanted to be," said Power. "I think it's a matter of getting used to the new car. It feels a lot different than the Lola. The steering is lighter and the brake pedals are softer, the whole car is different. "Once I got over that in the morning session and got used to all of the new bits on the car like the paddle shifting we started making changes and working towards getting the car a bit quicker. "I think that we need to make more drastic changes to understand exactly what the car reacts to because we are not getting enough out of the new tyres at the moment. "I'm hoping for a dry day tomorrow so that we can get this car where we want it."
