On the inside of the chicanes at the Gold Coast track, there are wrapped tyres. source: paddocktalk.com - rumors On Friday, the tyres were around 20 inches high with a rubber wrap. Canadian Paul Tracy brushed this wrapping and it broke his suspension and pitched him into the wall. On the Saturday, the wrapping was smaller and it was made out of a tough plastic, but when Sebastian Bourdais hit them it launched his car. There were suggestions to have it taken away or changed. However, this was not done. Apparently, only two drivers wanted the tires changed (Champ Car would not say who but we can guess). So, while a better solution needs to be found for next years race, the current situation seems acceptable to most of the drivers. The PaddockTalk Perspective: Everyone sees a different race. The wrapped tires have also been blamed in some media reports for Justin Wilson's incident which resulted in his injured wrist.
