2009 Mazda Tribute GX-I4 AWD Review
Monday, January 05, 2009
Before this year, every time we would get invited to the launch of a small SUV or crossover, the manufacturer lined up only the most powerful versions of their new model. Even if 4-cylinder and V6 engines were available, when we asked if we could try out a version with the smaller engine, we would get an answer that sounded like: "Um... we don't have any right now."

2009 Mazda5 GS Review (video)
Wednesday, December 03, 2008
With a national average of just over 1.5 children per family, full-size minivans seem rather large for daily use. In a stroke of genius, Mazda has decided to bring the minivan down to a more palatable size, one that meets a family's real needs.

Certain phenomenons in life are fascinating. The Mazda3, for example, is unique in its genre. More than 5 years after its official launch, not only is this little car still successful, but its sales figures are progressing, to the detriment of rivals such as the Honda Civic.

2009 Mazda6 GS-V6 Review
Monday, November 24, 2008
Since Honda decided a few years back that their mid-size Accord in North America should be different (read: bigger) than the one sold in the rest of the world, its rivals don't have much choice but to follow the same path.

2009 Mazda CX-7 GT Review
Monday, December 01, 2008
Since the introduction of the Miata in 1990, Mazda has understood one important thing: it's not just about building a vehicle, that vehicle has to become an extension of the driver. The idea of driving enjoyment has become the dogma behind each and every Mazda product. The CX-7, widely derived from the 2005 MX-Crossport Concept, perfectly embodies the idea of sport in the term "sport utility vehicle". In addition to devastating good looks for a third year running, the CX-7 boasts the technical prowess true the brand's dynamics.

2008 Mazda MX-5 GT Review
Saturday, November 08, 2008
How can this car be profitable? These days, manufacturers are merging and using the good old badge engineering method to produce vehicles that have a different name, bumper and grille, but are otherwise the same. This practice is for reducing development costs and maximizing profits, because carmakers are supposedly facing tough times.

2008 Mazda CX-9 GT AWD Long-Term Review (part 2)
Saturday, October 25, 2008
We racked up 9,000 kilometers in the CX-9 and had to send it back home. But during that time, this SUV changed some people's preconceptions that a big vehicle is clumsy, slow and fuel-thirsty. Actually, two of these three preconceptions changed, and the last one didn't.

2001-2006 Mazda Tribute Pre-Owned
Saturday, October 11, 2008
This won't shock anyone, but the Mazda Tribute is just a re-badged version of the Ford Escape. It's got the same engines, same transmissions and same capabilities, and the only major difference is in regard to suspension tuning. The Tribute gets a stiffer ride than the Ford. Zoom-zoom, and all that. When it launched in 2001 alongside the Escape, it was bigger than a CRV or a Rav4, as well as somewhat more rugged looking as well.

2009 Mazda 6 GT-V6 Review (video)
Monday, October 13, 2008
For the past few years now, Mazda has been giving us boldly styled prototypes, but these liquid lines have been slow to make it into production. For 2009, Mazda is finally launching a model graced with a cleaner version of this liquid styling and a rare elegance.

2009 Mazda6 GT-I4 Review (video)
Thursday, January 01, 2009
It's tricky business updating a car like the Mazda 6, especially with the original's reputation as the sportiest and most energetic model in its class. It offered handling, style and entertainment value at above-par levels, not to mention a great look and very sporty driving characteristics. If BMW made a front-drive car, it would probably drive just like the last-generation Mazda 6.

This has been no easy task! But once again we caught the upcoming Mazda3, and once again this sedan was uncovered and fully exposed (except for a bit of tape). But if you look closely, all of the shapes and lines nicely show through.

Mazda unveils its idle stop system
Wednesday, September 10, 2008
The car manufacturer announced that it has developed a new idle stop system that uses direct injection technology. Mazda says the Smart Idle Stop System (SISS) will improve fuel efficiency by around 10% in urban areas, where vehicles stop frequently. One of the SISS's main improvements over conventional idle stop systems is that it doesn't use the standard electric starter to restart the engine.

2008 Mazda MX-5 GT Review
Tuesday, September 09, 2008
Some cars are really nothing more than giant toys. The best example is undoubtedly the Mazda MX-5 (I still prefer its old moniker, the Miata), a small, energetic roadster that's fun to drive but, mostly, incredibly impractical.

The Mazda MX-5 gets a facelift
Thursday, September 04, 2008
Mazda announced this morning that it will be presenting a lightly updated Mazda MX-5 at the 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile de Paris, which will be held from October 2 to 19. The photo Mazda released features a redesigned fascia. The bumper has inherited a new, larger central air intake flanked by two smaller ones containing the fog lights. The little roadster's smile now seems even wider, but, paradoxically, this latest facelift gives it an aggressive demeanour.

2008.5 MAZDASPEED3 Review
Thursday, August 07, 2008
As one of the most popular vehicles in Canada since its launch in the fall of 2003, the Mazda3 has always been regarded as a compact car that offers a dynamic driving experience. But afterwards, the Japanese company decided to assign a new mission to the Mazda3: beat the Volkswagen GTI as the ultimate hot hatch. The task isn't easy, as VW has 25 years of experience fine-tuning their GTI, now an automotive icon. And the latest-generation model is arguably the best one yet.

2008 Mazda B4000 SE Review
Friday, August 08, 2008
Driving a Mazda B-Series pickup truck is like going back in time nearly 15 years. After all, this truck was launched in 1994, the year Mazda decided to produce a clone of the Ford Ranger.Fourteen years later, the recipe still seems to satisfy many Canadian consumers: the yearly sales figures rank the Ranger/B-Series duo first in the small pickup truck market, vehicles described by some as compact, by others as intermediary.Curiously, it's the exact opposite in the U.S.: the Ranger/B-Series team is ranked next to last in the same market!

2009 Mazda RX-8 R3 Review
Thursday, July 31, 2008
For 2009, Mazda's flagship sports coupe gets numerous improvements. While relatively subtle, these upgrades inject newfound dynamism into the car. After five years on the market, the RX-8 was beginning to show serious signs of age. The rebirth took place last January at the Detroit Auto Show. The design is remarkable. The RX-8 is simply magnificent, evolving with flair while retaining the same overall look.

2008 Mazda MX-5 PRHT Special Version Review (video)
Monday, August 04, 2008
The story of the MX-5 dates back to 1990 with the late Miata. After making big waves upon its original introduction, the little Mazda went on to become the best-selling roadster in the world. Now a major automotive icon, the MX-5 just got a retractable hardtop for its 18th birthday. The car's design is just as successful today as it was back then. In fact, the evolution from 1990 is quite a steady one.

2009 Mazda6 First Impressions

Revising the Mazda6 was no easy task. This successful midsize sedan managed to conquer the hearts of about 9,000 drivers year in, year out. However, newer models have emerged in recent years and made this market segment more competitive than ever, led by the freshly-redesigned Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
