GM to invest $290 million in Ontario
General Motors has signed an important agreement with the Canadian government in which the manufacturer promises to invest $290 million in its Ontarian plants. GM accepted to invest $245 million in its St. Catharines plant, where a new, fuel-efficient, 6-speed automatic transmission for front-wheel drive vehicles will be assembled. The production of this transmission alone, slated to begin in April 2011, will ensure over 300 jobs.
