2010 Buick Allure adds a 4-cylinder engine to its powertrain lineup

A fuel-efficient, direct injected Ecotec 2.4L four-cylinder engine will be the third engine offered in the 2010 Buick Allure luxury sedan. Backed by a fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission, the new powertrain combination is expected to deliver fuel economy of 7.8 L/100 km highway and 11.8 L/100 km city (U.S. estimated figures)-making Allure one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment.

General Motors today announced pricing for the all-new 2010 Buick Allure luxury sedan, which startsat an MSRP of $32,745 and arrives in showrooms this summer. Available in frontand all-wheel-drive, the Allure is powered by a choice of two fuel-savingdirect injection V-6 engines paired with six-speed transmissions and delivers precisesuspension tuning for driving control and comfort unlike any Buick before it.

The future of GM was on full display at this year's New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). In line with the automaker's plans to reduce fuel consumption and emissions across their model lineups, new gas-saving technologies and hybrids were the name of the game at GM's expansive exhibit.

It might be a tad too early to make assumptions, but it looks like the next-generation Allure isn't exactly going to be your fathers Buick. Photos and info of the revised model are now on GM's American media site- though it's called the 'LaCrosse' south of the border. Looks like Buick's entry-level car has become meaner, more sculpted, less geriatric and even, dare we say, exciting to look at.

No. The 2010 Allure (LaCrosse in the US) was not at the Los Angeles Auto Show. But we have it here. And these profile shots, the first ones taken, show more details of the new body shape. The long awaited debut of this intermediate sedan, originally set for this week in LA, has been delayed till the Detroit Auto Show next January.

Codenamed GMX353, the second generation Allure (LaCrosse in the United-States) will use the new front-wheel-drive Epsilon II (global) platform, a first for GM in America.
