2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition Review
Monday, November 07, 2011
If you think you can't dress up a Porsche, think again. When I was told I was going to be handed the keys to a Porsche Boxster S Black Edition, I was intrigued to say the least. While the Boxster may still be considered the "poor man's Porsche", it's still a Stuttgart offspring with some serious presence on the road, and this special edition roadster is no exception.

Before there was GPS...
Monday, September 12, 2011
Last weekend, the husband and I spent a glorious Saturday traversing country roads through Quebec and Ontario visiting family in the 2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition I'd landed for the week. As soon as I brought the fancifully dressed two-seater home on the previous Monday, my husband was already planning the route and calling various family members to announce our visit that coming Saturday.

Porsche unveils Boxster S Black Edition

Porsche definitely loves unique cars. Hot on the heels of the 911 Black Edition, the German automaker basically gave the same treatment to the Boxster S.

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder Review (video)

Turns out, those health nuts are on to something. Lighter is typically better where agility, energy efficiency and athleticism are concerned--and it's much the same in the automotive world.

Echoes from the Web: Porsche Boxster and Cayman to be built with the VW Golf?
Wednesday, December 29, 2010
According to the rumor originally posted by Auto Bild, a source reportedly confirmed that Volkswagen is studying the possibility of assembling some Porsche Boxster and Cayman at the Osnabrück plant that already produces the Golf. If this project moves forward, the Zuffenhausen factory will transfer part of the production of the two sport vehicles to this new location as soon as capacity will have maxed out.

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder Review
Monday, December 27, 2010
I am a woman who is all about style. I know that it's the girl in me, but I want my car to look good, so that I look good. Styling is one of the most important things for me when it comes to any vehicle.

Drive a Porsche in winter? Yes you can
Sunday, February 21, 2010
The answer to this question would definitely not have been the same 15 years ago. To some, driving a Porsche through slush and snow is a sin, while others just think it's hazardous. The 911 has a reputation of being a tricky car to drive with its rear-drive, rear-engine configuration, but that's changed. Sort of.

Part II: Slipping and Sliding (On Purpose!)
Monday, February 08, 2010
Last time I wanted to discuss slipping and sliding-- it was largely to vocalize that I didn't feel that the indicator light served a respectable purpose. Today I have something quite different to discuss-- how much fun it can be to drive in (controlled) conditions where that particular light stays on the whole time!

2009 Porsche Boxster S Review
Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Fall is in the air. The leaves are on the ground. The trees are naked. We're busy bundling up, trying to protect our skin from the harsh winds and cringing at the thought of what's next on the calendar; WINTER! What am I doing, you may ask? Easy: Having a blast freezing my butt off with the top down in my Speed Yellow Boxster S at 120 km/h charging down the highway.

2009 Porsche Boxster S Review (video)
Sunday, August 09, 2009
From day one, the Porsche Boxster intended to bring owners a more fun-loving taste of the Porsche brand. Its standard convertible roof, snippy mid-engine handling and two-seat setup wave a bit of youthful carelessness in the face of the automaker's more serious, grown-up models.

It's raining Porsche special editions
Thursday, October 02, 2008
The Paris show seems promising for Porsche: other than the Cayenne S Transsyberia, the manufacturer will be presenting no less than three other versions of its popular models. First off, the 911 will finally be available in its new Targa digs with moonroof; the glass surface will take up a whopping 16.5 square feet and retract in just 7 seconds.

2008 Porsche Boxster S Review
Wednesday, September 03, 2008
My colleague Bertrand Godin and I recently shared a 2008 Porsche Boxster S for a 7-day road test. At the end of the week, we both agreed on the sporty dynamics of this "little" German roadster. The Boxster S might not win any awards for styling, but it stays perfectly true to the brand's classic heritage. It reminds me of the Porsche 550 Speedster of the 1950s, which is part of the reason why this car stands out from the competition.

2008 Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder Review
Wednesday, September 10, 2008
In 1960, Porsche created the racing successor to the 550 Spyder, and named it the 718 RS 60 Spyder. Powered by a 1.5-litre engine that developed about 150 horsepower, the RS 60 proved its worthiness on the track, with a 1-2 finish at the Sebring 12-hour race as well as winning the Targa Florio that same year. The 718 beat more-powerful rivals, such as Ferrari, thanks to its low weight and amazing agility.

2008 Porsche Boxster Review
Sunday, August 10, 2008
In my humble opinion, the 2008 Porsche Boxster, even at $59,070, is the ideal sports car for those who want to learn how to drive aggressively and enjoy a perfect blend of balance and performance on the road. Much like the base Mazda MX-5 or BMW Z4, not to mention the Honda S2000, you can get the most out of this car without relying on all sorts of gadgetry. What I'm saying is that you don't need to shell out the extra bucks for a Cayman S, a 911 or a BMW M3 to get the feel of a genuine sports car.

2008 Porsche Boxster Review
Friday, June 13, 2008
If you're a car nut like me, as a kid, you've probably dreamed about the same brands of built-for-speed sports coupes; Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. As you got older, your tastes might have expanded with other brands that produce mighty fine sedans and SUVs. Yet Porsche might arguably be the only brand of car you'll desire from when you were still in short pants, straight through to the nursing home.

Three firsts for Porsche at New York
Tuesday, March 18, 2008
It's a good time to be a horsepower nut. German automaker Porsche is adding even more ponies to their lineup of performance cars, and as a result, they've got three firsts to show off at the New York Auto Show. These consist of the world's first 300-plus horsepower Boxster model, the world's first 400-plus horsepower naturally-aspirated Cayenne SUV and the world's first 500-plus horsepower 911.

Porsche to present commemorative Boxster model at Bologna
Tuesday, November 27, 2007
German performance carmaker Porsche will present a new, commemorative version of the mid-engine Boxster at the Bologna Motor Show next month. Designed to recall Porsche's successful motorsport era of the 1960's, the new Boxster RS60 features appropriately nostalgic colors, features and design philosophies. Historians will remember the Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder, which won one of the most prestigious long-distance races for the Manufacturers' World Championship back in 1960.

2007 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S Road Test
Friday, July 13, 2007
These two Porsches are what a sports car is all about in the mind of the average fan: nimble and powerful. In addition to the open-air experience provided by their retractable top, they boast another attribute that's rarely seen on comparable machines: cargo room. We recently had the opportunity to test both models.

2007 Porsche Boxster S Road Test
Sunday, July 15, 2007
Raise your hand if you were surprised to hear that the 3.4-litre flat-six-cylinder engine from Porsche's Cayman S coupe is now available in the Boxster S roadster for 2007. Hmm... Not many hands, I see. This really shouldn't be too big of a revelation if you have any awareness on how Porsche does business (i.e. relentless, year in and year out refinement). In fact both Boxster models now share powerplants with Porsche's hardtop Boxster; a.k.a. the Cayman.

A Limited Edition Porsche Boxster
Thursday, May 31, 2007
Birmingham, Alabama - The executives of Porsche America have just confirmed their decision to produce a Limited Edition Boxster sporting the same orange paint as last year's 911 GT3 RS. Initially, this project was supposed to be a mere styling exercise, but in light of the strong reaction from enthusiasts and owners, the German automaker chose to manufacture 500 units for 2008: 250 base models and 250 S models.

2007 Porsche Boxster: First Impressions
Wednesday, September 06, 2006
Knoxville, Tennessee - At the Detroit auto show, Porsche presented a Boxster concept that was inspired from the Spyder 550 of the fifties. For movie buffs, that's the car in which James Dean killed himself in 1955. With a more than favourable welcome, Porsche produced the Boxster in 1997. In 1998, the Stuttgart firm showed off the Boxster S, more powerful than its little sister. In regard to their vehicles, Porsche prefers evolution rather then revolution. It's only in 2005 that the Boxster received an 80% redesign. The engine was already resized in 2000. This time, under the supervision of engineer Martin Constien, Porsche developed new powertrains for its little sports car: a 2.7-litre for the Boxster and a 3.4-litre for the S version, the same engine found in the Cayman.

2005 Porsche Boxster at Toronto

The Porsche that could be considered affordable has now received a complete makeover. Some will say that the revamp was long over-due but, as many say: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

2005 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S Road Test
Wednesday, December 08, 2004
Just what is a benchmark? Technically, it's something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured or judged. Porsche's Boxster has been a benchmark in the roadster class since its inception in model year 1997. It's been given incremental power upgrades over the years, and Porsche improved it even further in its 2003 model year by adding a glass rear window and styling tweaks, but eight years of service is a seriously long tenure even for a benchmark car.

2004 Porsche Boxster S 50th Anniversary 550 Spyder Preview
Tuesday, November 25, 2003
Fifty years, regardless of what subject and matter, is a very lengthy period of time. For married couples it's represented in gold, and after reigning for such tenure the Queen gets her Jubilee. For automobiles, it's slightly different - they are commemorated with a special model, or in this case, a package.

2003 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S Road Test
Friday, September 27, 2002
It had been quite some time since Porsche incorporated mid-engine architecture into its design philosophy. 1997 saw the advent of the Boxster, immediately lauded for its sexy styling and athletic road manners. Its design paid respect to the lovely 550 Spyder and RSK/RS60 race cars from the late 1950s and early 1960s, made famous in North America when driven to an overall victory in the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring by Hans Herrmann and Olivier Gendebien.

2001 Porsche Boxster S Road Test
Monday, January 01, 2001
Take one of the best handling sports cars ever created, add a larger, more powerful engine, one extra gear, superior braking and what do you have? Near perfection. That said the 'base' Boxster, with its mid-mounted 2.7-litre, horizontally-opposed 6-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual gearbox is better since last year. Porsche addressed initial criticism of less than optimal power by upping output from 204 hp to a robust 217. To tell you the truth, if I had never sat behind the wheel of the new 'S' I would probably have been totally satisfied not knowing what I was missing. Well, maybe not totally satisfied. I just can't remember.

'CAR AND DRIVER' RANKS PORSCHE® BOXSTER® AMONG THE 10 BEST CARS FOR 2002
Thursday, January 10, 2002
ATLANTA - The New York Yankees did it beginning in
1949; the Montreal Canadiens started in 1955; the Boston Celtics began in
1958; and Porsche even did it at Le Mans starting in 1981. "It" is being the
best among your peers for at least five consecutive years. Now the Boxster,
Porsche's mid-engine roadster, joins this elite group by earning its fifth
consecutive "Car and Driver" 10Best Award.
