2012 Toyota Camry SE Review
Wednesday, March 21, 2012
My outlook towards Toyota has been quite negative over the last few years. Their products and their attitude have been a constant irritant, but it is clear that one of these elements is on the mend. The other will come, I'm certain, once the residual dark clouds move on.

2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid First Impressions
Wednesday, October 12, 2011
When the first Camry Hybrid was launched back in the summer of 2006, it offered all the qualities of a conventional Camry, but with fuel economy ratings yet unheard of in the midsize sedan segment. It basically consumed less fuel than a subcompact Yaris.

2012 Toyota Camry First Impressions
Friday, October 07, 2011
I have to admit that I wasn't really excited to arrive at Toyota Canada's headquarters this morning for the launch of the 2012 Camry. With all due respect to the company, this midsize sedan isn't particularly thrilling to drive. At best, I was expecting a nip & tuck, some added features and, like the 2011 Corolla, a new steering wheel.

Twitter: Nissan steals 2012 Camry's thunder - during the launch
Tuesday, August 30, 2011
While Toyota was launching with much fanfare the 2012 Camry on August 23 (dancers, confetti and giant screen included), Nissan used Twitter to pull the rug out from under its rival's feet and promote its own products. Unfair competition or not, it turned out to be a stroke of genius.

2012 Toyota Camry: more potent and fuel efficient, less expensive
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Amid dancers, confetti and giant screens at an external press conference, Toyota unveiled with much fanfare the completely redesigned 2012 Camry via the web. We can look forward to more grunt, less refuelling stops and a slightly cheaper price tag.

Glimpse at the 2012 Toyota Camry, take two
Friday, August 12, 2011
Last week, Toyota USA exclusively published on its Twitter account the first official image of the 2012 Camry, emphasizing its front end. Featuring headlights that remind us of those on the Acura TSX and Kia Optima looking headlights, the effort left us wanting more.

2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review
Monday, November 29, 2010
You had to be a die-hard tree hugger in 2007 to want to shell out 6,000 $ extra to drive one of the very first Toyota Camry Hybrids instead of a normal Camry. Indeed, at first glance they were nearly identical. At the time, when someone was spotted driving a Prius, everyone instantly knew that this guy (or gal) was out to save the world. But the Camry driver went unnoticed, even if he had the very best intentions.

2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review
Tuesday, September 07, 2010
I became one of those drivers that I find so irritating; the sort that think they're saving the planet by driving their hybrid automobiles in near sedation in order to achieve the greatest fuel efficiency. You know the type I'm talking about. They take two blocks to accelerate to 50kph because heaven forbid the gas engine may fire up and needlessly consume fossil fuel.

2010 Toyota Camry SE Review
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
The Toyota Camry hasn't been the best-selling model in the US of the past 12 years for nothing. The Camry's overall attitude makes it a truly versatile car. However, things have changed recently in the US, and the Camry has had to relinquish its crown over the past few months with the arrival of a certain Hyundai Sonata (Limited, $28,999) that's giving it a run for its money.

2010 Midsize Sedan Comparative Road Test
Monday, May 31, 2010
Social media being what it is, we, at Auto123.com, posted some pictures and comments about our upcoming comparison road test on our Facebook page (Auto123.com). We listed the cars slated for evaluation and shortly afterwards, comments came pouring in, asking why this car and that car were not included in the test. First, we can't test them all. Second, we limit ourselves to a segment and third, we try and have them carry similar powertrains and levels of kit.

2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review
Saturday, December 19, 2009
I don't know why, but every time I try out a Camry, I become a slow driver. Life passes by very, very slowly specifically when I'm behind the wheel of the Hybrid. I'm so bent on obtaining the lowest fuel economy average I can get, that I become an irritation for both surrounding traffic and my girlfriend.

2010 Toyota Camry LE Review
Thursday, October 22, 2009
Looking at the grey Camry LE with its two-tone grey interior, I can't help but think that we've come to expect too much. Too often, we think the Camry should have something of the divine. And the Accord. And the Fusion. And the Malibu. We've come to believe these mid-size sedans should be nothing short of extraordinary.

2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review
Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Driving excitement is seldom a priority of Toyota buyers. They're more interested in reliability, resale value, build quality and what can be described as understated styling. It's almost as if they where allergic to adrenalin. The same logic applies to the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. True, this car has a certain charisma while also being fuel-efficient and flawlessly constructed. But in terms of thrills behind the wheel, the only thing that will send a shiver down your spine is if the interior temperature is too cold.

For a few years now, the auto industry has been dramatically shifting toward greener vehicles, particularly hybrids. All of them enjoy strong sales, the Prius more so than the others.

Is driving a hybrid really money-saving?
Sunday, June 22, 2008

2009 Toyota Camry XLE V6 Review (video)
Thursday, May 01, 2008
It's a good time to be a horsepower enthusiast that's shopping for a family car. Competition in today's sedan market is extremely fierce- and carmakers are beating each other up with features, options and selection, trying to be the manufacturer you give your dollar to. On the sensible side of the family-car market, competition mainly takes place on the economy, value and safety fronts.

2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Road Test
Sunday, October 07, 2007
5.7 is the magic number, the objective. City or highway, the Camry Hybrid's fuel economy rating is 5.7 L/100 km. I decided to take that challenge and do my very best in order to achieve that fuel consumption average. To get there, the method to use is simple: maximize usage of the electric motor and use the combustion engine as least as possible.

2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Road Test
Sunday, January 07, 2007
I couldn't do it. In two weeks, I couldn't empty the fuel tank of my Toyota Camry Hybrid. True, the snow that fell at the beginning of December in the Laurentides region kept the car quietly parked in its space. In addition, my Camry Hybrid was equipped with all-season P215/60R16 tires, which are not very good fit for winter driving. Moreover, the traction control system can't be deactivated by a button on the dashboard. As a result, on a snowy/icy hill, the system has fun breaking the much needed engine momentum.

2007 Toyota Camry XLE Road Test
Monday, July 10, 2006
With Korean auto manufacturers, Hyundai and Kia, dispatching an array of impressive sedans to North America, re-tooling the Camry was critical if Toyota intended to maintain their supremacy in the mid-size sedan market. The all-new 2007 Camry is the sixth generation of Toyota's highly acclaimed moderately priced sedan. In this version, Toyota has tried to shake the vanilla milquetoast image of the ultra-reliable 4-door by drafting sportier lines and upping the under-hood V6 ante. What hasn't changed to any significant degree is the vehicle's size and pricing structure. Also, it remains front-wheel-driven while offering either a four or six cylinder powerplant depending on trim level. This week's tester is a top-of-the-line XLE, powered by the six-cylinder mill.

Looking at Camry without driving one

2007 Toyota Camry Road Test

Recently, ahead of a beautifully clear, albeit cold day in the nation's capital, I woke up to the prospect of being one of the first journalists to test North America's number one selling midsize car. What a daunting prospect. Not that the new 2007 Camry is the world's fastest, best handling or all-empowering super-sedan, or anything so intimidating, but the very fact that more of North America's new car shoppers will hang on my assessment

Pre-Owned: 1997-2001 Toyota Camry
Friday, January 27, 2006
The word Camry usually sparks two types of reactions. The first would sound a little like "a dependable if somewhat boring car" and the other would go something like "I love my Camry!". Mammoth success for a car manufacturer has rarely come as big as the Camry. Toyota managed to deliver a car that suited just about everybody's needs. They also made sure that the Camry would meet those needs every time and for a very long time.

2006 Toyota Camry LE (Video Clip)

I've seen the future. No, better yet, I've driven it. This is the car I'm going to buy 20 years from now. When my grey hair will start falling out, my kids will have moved away, and my aging body will fear stiffly sprung sport coupes, I'm going to get myself a Camry.

2006 Toyota Camry LE Road Test
Saturday, November 26, 2005
I knew there had to be a rationale behind every other car on the street being a Camry. I could reason it out for myself, that it wasn't likely to be its dashing good looks, though it has improved immeasurably over the years, appearing almost as good as a, er, Lexus ES. So what's the charm? It's a car. It has four wheels, four doors, a roof (in this case a sunroof), and a thrifty little engine that does everything it's told to do. What else?

2005 Toyota Camry

Serenity now! These were the words I uttered to myself 15 seconds after getting into and driving the car for the first time. This is a Toyota Camry and boy does it feel good. Keep in mind that I am under 30 years old and love my tuner cars very much and that I drive a 13 year old Volkswagen. I am not trying to sell you anything when I write these words.

2005 Toyota Camry Road Test
Wednesday, August 18, 2004
While it's the best selling car in the U.S. and one of Canada's top-sellers, the Camry still gets no respect from "real" car enthusiasts. A Toyota spokesman recently said that "non-owners make assumptions about Camry," which is probably true. After all, I'm a non-Camry owner and I've always considered it the automotive equivalent of sliced white bread, more middle-America than a Chevy Impala and many times more popular.

2005 Toyota Camry Solara SLE V6 Convertible
Tuesday, June 15, 2004
Not too long ago I spent a week in Toyota's all-new Camry Solara coupe. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to be so impressed. For sure, the previous model's refinement was good, especially its comfortable ride, silky smooth powertrain and high-quality switchgear. It included many creature comforts too, all designed to pamper occupants. Yet as good as it was, the old Solara's styling left me a bit flat and its performance was, well, nothing to get excited about.

So I pull into the fast food drive-thru to order a kids meal for my boy, and the early-twenty-something server hangs his head out the window and checks out my ride. "New Solara, right?" "That's right," I responded. "Sweet taillights," he added. "Yeah, they're nice. Like a Lexus inside," I commented. "Well, it's made by the same company," my educated restaurateur inserted. "Might as well be a Lexus," I continued.

2003 Toyota Camry: Aggressive pricing, unbeatable value
Tuesday, September 24, 2002
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) announced a pre-emptive pricing strategy for its 2003 lineup of best-selling Camry family sedans. It's the second year in a row Toyota has taken an aggressive stance on the cost of owning a Camry -- with dramatic results. Camry sales are up by 65.7 per cent and Camry is Canada's most popular intermediate sedan. For 2003, the volume-selling Camry LE costs no more than it did last year, with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail List Price (MSRP) of $24,800. Camry LE with the "B" option package -- which includes an Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brake Force Distribution -- has been reduced by $265 to $25,295. The all-new 4-cylinder Camry SE with automatic transmission will retail for $26,000 -- just $1,200 more than the base LE although it's equipped with a host of additional features valued at $1,900. The 4-cylinder Camry SE is available with a 5-speed manual transmission for $24,955.

2002 Toyota Camry Road Test
Wednesday, July 10, 2002
Take a good look at the all-new Camry. It's come a long way from its boxy 4-door, 4-cylinder Corona replacement namesake, launched in 1983. It wasn't much of a performer either, nor was it particularly attractive, but that didn't impede Toyota's first front-drive mid-size family car in earning a 99% ownership satisfaction rating - the highest ever recorded to that date. Yet this is 2002, and competition in the mid-size segment is beyond fierce. Is the new Camry good enough to carry on the legend, and warrant the brands continued praise?
