The Dukes of Hazard - General Lee
Tuesday, February 07, 2012
General Robert E. Lee was the man who led the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War, but enough about him because by far the most famous General of that surname was the modified 60s Dodge Charger driven by Bo & Luke Duke in the hit television series, The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985).

2004-2011 Mazda RX-8 Pre-Owned
Saturday, February 04, 2012
A four-door coupe with room for the kids? That was the Mazda RX-8's premise. And on top of its rare suicide doors and striking looks, the RX-8 also featured a unique rotary engine that delivered plenty of revs. Sharp-as-a-tack handling, track-ready steering and plenty of performance were part of the package.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Premiere+ Review
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
That's basically the simplest way to sum up the new New, newest, uh, latest Volkswagen Beetle. It actually sparked my intrigue at one point when I asked around about girlie cars and came up with a few stats. Essentially, the Beetle was the "girliest" amongst chick cars.

2013 Subaru BRZ Preview (video)
Monday, January 23, 2012
Uncleanliness can be described as many things, but in the automotive world, we can consider unnecessary weight, an overabundance of power and heavy fuel consumption as unclean. Many vehicles engrossed with these sins are nonetheless enjoyable, desirable and acclaimed, but if you have a soft spot for sports cars, it's always preferable to own one that is pure.

2012 Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe Review
Friday, January 20, 2012
Luxury cars are all the rage right now. Even if you're not in the market for a "luxury car" you still want luxurious features and amenities to appear in your econobox purchase. Manufacturers recognize this, from the bottom of the bunch right up to the top. They all recognize the consumer's need for overall quality in assembly and materials used.

2012 MINI Cooper S Coupé Review
Monday, January 09, 2012
The most recent iteration of the MINI Cooper is also the most visually distinctive example of the retro-themed European.Think of the MINI Coupé as the Audi TT of the MINI lineup but with significantly more headroom than the TT. While not looking as purpose-built, the MINI Coupé possesses many of the same attributes.

2012 Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5 S Review
Sunday, January 08, 2012
A lot of people used to buy midsize coupes, but not anymore. Back in the '80s, virtually every manufacturer had at least one such coupe in their product lineup; today, only a handful are left, and a market segment that was once dominated by the domestic brands has been turned over to the Japanese and Korean manufacturers.

The Italian Job - Mini Cooper
Thursday, January 05, 2012
Now call me biased if you like, but even if I weren't a Brit, the original 1969 The Italian Job would still be one of my all-time favourite movies. If you've never seen the film, you owe it to yourselves to track it down because it's not only immense fun, but perfectly demonstrates all that is Mini Cooper.

2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Review
Sunday, January 01, 2012

2004-2008 Toyota Solara Pre-owned
Saturday, December 31, 2011
As an attempt to inject some fun and excitement into the Camry lineup, Toyota turned its reliable and well-loved sedan into the two-door coupe or convertible Camry Solara, widely called simply "Toyota Solara." Intended for shoppers after a more personal motoring experience, the second-generation Solara debuted as a 2004 model, and has now transitioned into used-car territory.

If it's too good to be true...
Monday, December 26, 2011
I'm casually shopping for a good used car, and I'm particularly looking to find a relatively pristine 2nd-generation Acura Integra. Arguably one of the best cars Acura ever sold, I fell in love with the Integra's surgical steering, straightforward cabin and rev-happy engine. It was also a gorgeous looking car - as long as it was equipped with a rear spoiler.

2012 Porsche Cayman R Review (video)
Wednesday, December 28, 2011
Nissan GT-R, Genesis R-Spec, Volvo R-Design, Jaguar XKR, Integra Type R, Mercedes SLR, Golf R, Audi TT RS; the list goes on and on. Why is "R" so rad? Because race car. All kidding aside, "R" is equal to yesterday's GT and SS. In fact and in some cases, it's more because GT is emphasized by an "R". So was SS but that's not a good example...

2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupé Review (video)
Monday, December 26, 2011
Certain cars evoke certain emotions and driving styles. It doesn't happen often (at least not for me), but when it does, it takes over my senses completely. I have no choice but to behave the way the car makes me. And I swear that's what I'd planned to tell the police officer when he would eventually pull me over.

2012 Scion tC Release Series 7.0 Review
Monday, December 26, 2011
Somehow, and despite the time and effort invested by Toyota to create a social buzz around its introduction, the Scion brand's arrival in Canada caused but a small wave in the ocean. Maybe it's because we knew all about the Scion product lineup already, on sale in the US since 2003.

James Bond's Aston Martin DB5
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Just about any James Bond car is worthy of a place on my list of famous TV & film automobiles: the Mach 1 Mustang from Diamonds Are Forever, the Bentley Mk IV used in From Russia With Love, or even the submersible Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me. However, one car stands head and shoulders above all others, his silver Aston Martin DB5.

Electric Cars tested!
Friday, December 16, 2011
Although you may not be seeing many on the road as of yet, there are far more electric cars coming our way than you might imagine. What is especially interesting about EVs, other than the fact that they do not produce any emissions, is that they will come in all shapes, sizes, and vocations.

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Review
Sunday, December 04, 2011
A gentleman stopped and asked me about
the 911 Carrera 4 I was driving. He
enquired how long I'd been driving it,
what it cost, and what my
husband/boyfriend did for work to afford
a car like that. I was a bit turned off
by this question. However, after some
discussion, he explained that this was a
car that a female just wouldn't buy.

Ford Gran Torino
Thursday, December 29, 2011
As a 16-year-old kid growing up in the UK, I just loved the red & white Torino with the jacked-up rear end which Paul Michael Glaser drove in the hit 70's TV show Starsky & Hutch, but apparently he didn't view the vehicle with quite the same admiration. In fact, the show's creator originally chose one of his personal favourites, the Chevy Camaro Convertible, but was overruled by production due to the tie-in they enjoyed at the time with the Ford Motor Company.

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S First Impressions
Wednesday, November 23, 2011
Porsche just showcased its reinvented 911 Carrera in California, which is fitting given the vehicle's immense popularity and rich history in the sunny state. The original 911 debuted in 1963, and in the intervening 48 years, the vehicle has evolved dramatically without ever compromising its core raison d'etre.

A BMW legend in the flesh
Thursday, November 10, 2011
Last week I was in the presence of a real automotive legend. No, it wasn't a multiple-race champion; it wasn't a legendary Formula 1 winning car from the 1950s; it wasn't a modern marvel of technological advancement or even a leader in the automotive world. What it was, however, was a one-of-a-kind BMW M1; and not just any M1 (even though they're special enough as is), this one was painted by pop artist and icon Andy Warhol.

2011 Scion tC Review
Friday, November 11, 2011
Webster's Dictionary defines "Scion" as a "descendant (of a notable family), a son or a daughter. It seems a strangely traditionalist moniker for a brand aimed directly at a young and hip demographic, but given that Scion is a new branch off the patriarchal giant Toyota, perhaps it's fitting.

2011 Infiniti IPL G Coupe Review
Sunday, November 06, 2011
The Infiniti 'G' range is expanding into a proper premium product portfolio. A convertible model recently joined existing G37 coupe and sedan models, as did a G25 sedan with a smaller and more fuel-efficient engine. Intended for shoppers more concerned more with fuel mileage than all-out firepower, the G25's smaller V6 develops 218 horsepower to the bigger unit's 330.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S First Impressions
Wednesday, November 02, 2011
As if an XKR wasn't mean enough, Jaguar's latest addition exposes an anger I have not yet seen before seen in an English automobile. The XKR-S has no clue what "discreet" means, and frankly, we can all be glad about that.

2011 Jaguar XKR Review
Friday, November 04, 2011
Ask any auto journalist and they'll admit to having a vehicular crush. No matter what, we all have our favourites. Of course, we're all told to be as unbiased as possible, but as human beings it's impossible for us not to feel more for one car over another - or one car over all the rest.

2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupé Review (video)
Thursday, November 03, 2011
A no-fluff review for a no-fluff car? Sounds good, no? The BMW 1 Series M Coupé (let's call it the 1M) is so simple, focused and free of needless add-ons that it's made this writer want do something similar for his review.

2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Review
Tuesday, September 20, 2011
I don't recall ever driving a car from a Korean manufacturer that's had as much character and testosterone as the Genesis Coupe - particularly with the V6. Comparisons with the Ford Mustang are inevitable, and while Hyundai didn't quite nail it this sports car is no less impressive.

2011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Review (video)
Sunday, October 30, 2011
Porsche has more 911 Carrera variants than one could shake a stick at, and their latest, the 911 Carrera GTS, intends to cap the range as the sportiest model yet. Without going into the Turbo series or the outrageous GT3 factory race car lineup, the 911 GTS is as athletic as the 911 Carrera gets.

Drive it like you stole it
Saturday, October 01, 2011
Some cars are just meant to be driven. There's no two ways about it, they just need to be driven, and driven hard. Not to push them would be blasphemous, sacrilege, criminal even. The BMW 1M is one such car.

2012 MINI Cooper Coupé First Impressions
Monday, September 12, 2011
We're hurtling down the runway of an ex-military airfield at 200 km/h in a John Cooper Works MINI Coupé. The driver's footwork is a blur, the car dances at the very limits of adhesion as we slide around the hairpin, staccato exhaust blatts punctuating every downshift.

2011 Ferrari 458 Italia Track Test
Wednesday, September 07, 2011
Ferrari has a story - and what a story it is - that will be told over and over again for decades and centuries to come. Much like you, as a car-friend I've read bits and pieces of Enzo's life and legacy, and have always been fascinated by how he reluctantly ended up making and selling cars in order to support his Scuderia Ferrari. Now, 64 years later, his name is associated with some of the outright best cars in the world.

2011 Mazda RX-8 R3 Review (video)
Thursday, September 01, 2011
Every time I get behind the wheel of the RX-8, I remember how much I like it. It's the before and after where I kind of forget what it's like to pilot this rambunctious ride, and I'm not quite sure why. It's not that it's a forgettable car; I mean, really, looking at it, how could it be? And it's not that it's boring to drive either. I spent the week pondering this thought behind the wheel.

No, you can't have my keys
Monday, August 29, 2011
The local coffee-shop car crowd had swooped in for a closer look at the 1 Series M Coupé tester. The little rocket sled grabbed everyone's attention a half-mile away with its exhaust note; the widened fenders, massive bumper venting apertures and four tailpipes sealed the deal.

Emo supercar lover blog...
Monday, August 22, 2011
I'm an emotional guy. Yup, not a very manly thing to admit, but I can't help it. I came off the assembly line this way, much like a 6-speed Camaro SS gets a 426-hp V8 whether it wants to or not.

The Bentley Showdown
Thursday, August 11, 2011
A few weeks ago, Matt and Miranda took to the streets in two uber-luxurious Bentleys: the 2012 Bentley Continental GT and the 2012 Bentley Mulsanne. While both were sufficiently impressed with their prestigious steeds, they also came to realize how different they each were. Of course, being Miranda and Matt, they immediately started comparing their cars (think boys locker-room talk). Instead of just arguing amongst themselves (much to the annoyance of their colleagues), they decided to share their debate with you lot.

2012 Bentley Continental GT review
Thursday, July 28, 2011
It's hard not to feel a tad jaded in our business. Every week I'm presented with a new vehicle, and sometimes it gets to be so mundane and humdrum, one car kind of just blending into the next. It's not that I mean for it to be like that, just that it happens--sad, but true. I love my job and I love cars, but in today's market, everyone is playing the one-up game, which means most cars are basically the same with a very few minute changes to make them stand out from the crowd--hopefully.

La félicité sur roues
Wednesday, July 20, 2011

The Story of the Volkswagen Beetle
Tuesday, July 19, 2011
Alright, so you're probably all Beetled out at this point; what with my blog about Berlin, my first impressions review, what it's like to drive on German roads (behind the wheel of a Beetle), and now this. But, trust me, you want to read this one. This isn't going to be some year-by-year account of each model and how it's changed. Nope. Instead, I wanted to look at the Beetle as a living and breathing entity, because truly that's what it's become to so many.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Coupé
Thursday, July 14, 2011
Like most car enthusiasts, some time in our youths a car or a few cars grabbed our attention. For me, there were three: the 1984 Chevrolet Corvette, the 1984 Ferrari Testarossa and the 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle First Impressions
Thursday, July 14, 2011
BERLIN, Germany--History isn't something we auto journalists often talk about. Sure, the history of the automobile is fascinating and the reason we are where we are today in the market, but it's the future we look to most often. Well, this week I took a step back in time with Volkswagen, and I'm sure glad I did.

2011 Porsche 911 Sport Classic Review (video)

"So Matt, how was driving the Sport Classic in Germany?", a friend asks as I painstakingly return to reality. My answer: "Germany's nice and all and the car, well it's just, just, simply put, you see, understand that, well, you know, it's...". The Sport Classic is to die for.

2011 Nissan NISMO 370Z Review
Thursday, July 14, 2011
What better way to vent your road rage than by doing a few hot laps around a racetrack? It's a safe, controlled environment that won't get you or others into trouble, and a hobby that's more amusing (albeit more expensive) than collecting stamps.

2011 Nissan NISMO 370Z Review
Monday, June 13, 2011
As a woman I tend to be a very visual creature. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate what's under the hood of a car, but what really gets my heart going (especially in the beginning) is how a car can really grab my attention, and keep it. The 2011 NISMO 370Z is one of those cars. It's one aggressive-looking automobile that gets just as many looks from the ladies as the guys.

Miranda's No. 1 Road Trip Vehicle
Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Sometimes you just have to get out of Dodge. It's nothing personal to your friends, family, job (maybe your job) or even the neighbourhood you live in; you just have to get away for a bit. We've all felt this way at least once in our lives, and I can bet at the very moment you wanted to jump ship you didn't exactly have the cash to drop at the airport for a flight outta there. Well, rejoice: There's a cheaper (much more enjoyable) option. The road trip.

2011 Infiniti IPL G Coupe Review
