Mercedes-Benz updates G-Class for 30th anniversary
Wednesday, June 11, 2008
The G-Class is one of the longest-standing SUVs in the auto industry, having been originally launched in 1979. To mark the 30th anniversary of its most expensive 4x4, Mercedes-Benz decided to give it minor cosmetic changes while updating its equipment and powertrain. The vehicle is just as boxy as always. Only a keen eye will notice the three-fin grille (instead of seven) and the new-look 18-inch wheels.

2007 Mercedes G320 CDI First Impressions
Sunday, January 14, 2007
There it was: a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a G 320 CDI no less. This was the Mercedes product that I though I would never have the opportunity to drive. Let me tell you that I was first in line on the morning of the test drives to make sure that I was going to get the chance to put it through its paces. Thins thing, to put it nicely, has been around basically unchanged since 1979. Usually, this is automotive suicide. In the case of the Geländewagen, it could never be any other way. Consider the G-Class the German Hummer and for a Hummer enthusiast, nothing should ever be changed. Same goes for a G lover.

2004 Mercedes G500 Road Test

What these peers don't remember is the fact that during my high school years I paid dearly for looking so young.

2004 Mercedes G55 AMG Road Test
Saturday, February 14, 2004
A.M.G. On their own, those three little letters don't mean much. But when affixed to the rear end of a Mercedes-Benz, that vowel and two consonants signify a beast to be reckoned with. Simply put, an AMG Mercedes is a finer tuned, highly styled version of the original.

Mercedes-Benz G500: Dare to be original.
Tuesday, March 05, 2002
The market trends right now call for big huge and powerful sport utility vehicles. At first, we were astonished by the huge Lincoln Navigator, then came the Cadillac Escalade and its EXT version. Japanese automakers have the lonely Toyota Sequoia while Europeans have the Range Rover and now.. the Mercedes-Benz G500!

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
