Many provinces have adopted rules for new drivers that are intended to reduce the incidence of crashes and the often tragic consequences. As the father of a teenager new to the wheel, I applaud such initiatives, but this weekend illustrated a flaw in the logic.

DETROIT- The Chevrolet Tahoe Police 2WD vehicle was found to have the lowest lifecycle cost in the law enforcement market by Vincentric, a company specializing in the area of automobile lifecycle analysis. Vincentric recently released their 2010 law enforcement vehicle market analysis that measured 20 mileage/lifecycle timeframes and the Tahoe Police 2WD enjoyed the lowest lifecycle cost in the majority of scenarios.

Since January 17, 2010, marks the return of compulsory lessons for those wishing to obtain a passenger vehicle driver's licence. The course content has also been renewed. The requirement to take driving lessons in order to obtain a probationary licence had been abolished on July 1, 1997, after having been in effect since 1983. Motorcycle driving courses, meanwhile, were once again made compulsory in 2001.

Montreal - The Association québécoise de lutte contre la pollution atmosphérique (the Quebec association for the reduction of air pollution, or AQLPA) is extremely happy with the significant progress that will be made mid-January when the greenhouse gas emissions produced by automotive vehicles by-law comes into effect. With this announcement, the Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, Ms. Line Beauchamp, makes Quebec the first Canadian province to set the strictest standards in all of North America.

According to a Ridesharing program called PickupPal, the Ontario Highway Transportation Board (OHTB) says that it's illegal to Rideshare in Ontario. Ridesharing is a form of carpooling, with shared use of a vehicle by the driver and one or more passengers- usually for the purpose of commuting.
