2012 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Review
Monday, January 30, 2012
A few years back, I attended the launch of the latest generation Nissan Maxima. It entered the automotive world completely new for 2009, and not a lot has changed since then. I'm pleased to again have the Maxima in-hand. For 2012, the car receives a couple of subtle styling changes and some new interior trim. In reality though, it's the same vehicle as last year -- but that's not a bad thing by any stretch of tarmac.

2011 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Review
Friday, December 31, 2010
Next time you're over at a friend's house, throw out the word "Maxima" and see how many people recognize the name of a car. There won't be a lot.

2010 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Review
Wednesday, May 05, 2010
The Maxima is Nissan's upscale sports sedan. It's a mid-size front-wheel-drive four-door performance sedan that seats up to five occupants. Although 2010 doesn't bring any noteworthy changes to the Maxima, it's worth another road test review given its bounty of attributes and relative obscurity in the marketplace.

2010 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Review
Sunday, December 27, 2009
Since Infiniti launched the G35 sedan in 2003, the Nissan Maxima has been stuck between a rock and a hard place. Trying to find some elbow room between the mid-size Altima and the rear-wheel drive G, the Max seemed to have lost its raison d'être.

2004-2008 Nissan Maxima Pre-Owned
Saturday, October 03, 2009
A four door sports car, huh? Such words were nearly blasphemous back in the late seventies when Nissan's Maxima first hit the scene. The Japanese automaker did something right with this foreign concept though--as the Maxima went on to sales success through 7 full generations. The eighth is on sale now.

2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Sport Review
Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Since the very beginning, the Nissan Maxima has progressively strayed from its sport sedan origins in favour of the middle-class. The latest generation is a little more exciting but definitely not sporty. With the introduction of the new 2009 Maxima, Nissan is trying very hard to re-establish its large sedan's pedigree. To the point where ads for the car associate it with the outrageous GT-R.

2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV Premium Review (video)
Thursday, September 04, 2008
The 2009 Nissan Maxima has taken quite a sip from the fountain of youth. The exact term would be a complete overhaul, as the Japanese manufacturer's large sedan has been completely and utterly redesigned. Some will say that's a good thing: the Maxima was aging rather quickly and didn't quite have what it takes to stand up to its rivals in the luxury sports sedan class. But now the odds are even.

Nissan's Green Program
Saturday, March 29, 2008
For Nissan, the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) represents a major event. Over the last few years, the Big Apple served as the launch pad for significant new Nissan products. Last year, for instance, the Infiniti EX premium crossover was introduced to the world. The 2008 edition of the NYIAS is no exception to this trend, as the Japanese automaker unveiled two highly-anticipated vehicles: the second-generation Infiniti FX50 crossover and the completely redesigned Maxima sedan.

New York Auto Show: Nissan
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
According to Nissan, the all-new 2009 Maxima returns to "4-door sports car" roots. The Max will be available in two trim levels, the 3.5 S and 3.5 SV, and features a more-powerful engine than the outgoing 2008 model. The venerable 3.5-liter V6, code-named VQ, gets internal revisions and a higher compression ratio to bump output to 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. A revised version of Nissan's Xtronic CVT transmission will equip both Maxima variants, and wheel-mounted paddle shifters will be available. The Xtronic also gets that Nissan calls a "Ds mode", which is basically sportier shift mappings and throttle blipping. The car will remain front-wheel drive, but Nissan promises that torque steer will be virtually eliminated.

2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL Road Test
Saturday, March 24, 2007
Back in 1989, I was 14 years old. The walls of my room were covered with posters of the road rockets I could only dream about. And over my bed, I pinned up a poster of a car that I actually would have a chance to drive one day; it was the Maxima, Nissan's "four-door sports car".

2002 NISSAN MAXIMA
Thursday, October 18, 2001
Before, Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima made perfect sense, because they lived on way different shelves in the mid-sized sedan cabinet and it was easy to see why the bigger, V-6-powered Maxima cost more money. But now Nissan has magnificently upgraded the previously boring Altima and put it back in the mid-size cupboard very, very close to Maxima. And Altima still costs a bunch less money.

NISSAN ADDS MAXIMA PRODUCTION TO SMYRNA, TENNESSEE
Thursday, September 27, 2001
Nissan today announced that production of a new Nissan Maxima performance sedan will begin at the Nissan North America assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn., in January 2003. This decision will bring the manufacture of its benchmark-setting sedan to its largest market. The addition of the Maxima to Smyrna is part of Nissan's worldwide aim to build cars and trucks as close as possible to the markets in which they are sold. The strategy will help reduce the company's exposure to currency fluctuations and will contribute to lasting, profitable growth for Nissan globally.

2002 NISSAN MAXIMA: MORE FEATURES
Monday, August 13, 2001
Nissan Canada will start its updated 2002 Maxima model at $32,900, though you can pay more if you want more toys. Generally speaking, Maxima has been moved a little upscale in style and tone to allow more room for the hugely upgraded Altima sedan at the lower end of the price ladder. That low price is for a Maxima GXE with a four-speed automatic attached to the new 3.5-litre V6, which sends 255 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
