2011 Mazdaspeed3 Review
Tuesday, August 09, 2011
I have to take this opportunity to thank some car manufacturers for ensuring that the business I so love remains as interesting and appealing as it is. I specifically want to address makers of "regular" cars such as Ford, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Volkswagen and, in this instance, Mazda.

Top 10 Engine bays
Monday, January 03, 2011
A clean and tidy engine bay is always pleasing. This explains the engine-cover fad that has taken over where ignition wires and valve covers have left off.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 Review
Monday, August 02, 2010
The little boy inside me is still alive and well. When I'm not doing crazy rides at the amusement park, I like to drive a car that's just as thrilling and smile-inducing. The 2010
Mazdaspeed3 definitely fits that bill.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 On The Track (video)
Friday, April 16, 2010
If you're a car enthusiast with a 9 to 5 job and a finite budget, you know that compromises suck. You also know about the hot-hatch: a vehicle that blends the utility of a small wagon with the moves of a sports coupe.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 Review
Thursday, December 10, 2009
I'm young, dumb and full of... well, you know, residual teenage angst. I may not like video games or online poker but I surely do appreciate fast cars. I don't got much money so I can't go out and buy myself an Audi R8, a Porsche Cayman (although I would sell everything I own to make a small down-payment for one) or even a Chevrolet Camaro. So when I get to drive cars that are quick, snappy and affordable, I tend to get excited.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 First Impressions
Thursday, July 30, 2009
Mosport, Ontario - The torrential rain that seemingly flushes our summer down the drain did not spare the Mosport International Raceway, near Toronto. It also affected my first contact with the all-new 2010 Mazdaspeed3, forcing me to use my entire bag of tricks and my good old racing reflexes in order to be able to push this sporty compact to the limit.

2008.5 MAZDASPEED3 Review
Thursday, August 07, 2008
As one of the most popular vehicles in Canada since its launch in the fall of 2003, the Mazda3 has always been regarded as a compact car that offers a dynamic driving experience. But afterwards, the Japanese company decided to assign a new mission to the Mazda3: beat the Volkswagen GTI as the ultimate hot hatch. The task isn't easy, as VW has 25 years of experience fine-tuning their GTI, now an automotive icon. And the latest-generation model is arguably the best one yet.

Comparison test: torque-steering Hot Hatches (video)
Monday, July 07, 2008
In Canada, we've always been fond of hatchbacks. In the '80s, such models with higher horsepower levels, tight suspensions and sport seats were roaming the streets. Remember the original VW Rabbit GTI? The Mazda 323GTX? The Honda Civic Si? The Dodge/Plymouth Colt Turbo? The Toyota Corolla GT-S? The Chevrolet Sprint Turbo and Pontiac Firefly Turbo? The Suzuki Swift GT? We do, as we wipe the tears in our eyes.

2008 MAZDASPEED3 Road Test
Thursday, February 14, 2008
I finish work one evening, and I decide to stop by one of my buddies' to show off this little buzz bomb. He previously owned a Mazda 3 Sport, but lack of space for the family convinced him to swap it for a Tribute. I get to his place and we go out for a short drive. After a few minutes, my buddy says something to me that stayed on the within the outer limits of my pea brain: "Do you realize that if we had cars this powerful when we were young, we might not be here today?"

2007 Mazdaspeed3 Road Test
Saturday, January 06, 2007
Two Hundred. It's a nice, round number that was, for a brief period, the standard in terms of horsepower for products in the new-age import tuner marketplace. The Honda Civic Si, Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged and Volkswagen Golf GTI are the main players in the scene, with appropriate add-ons and upgrades installed right at their factories. All three have enjoyed reasonably successful sales figures.

2007 Mazdaspeed3 Road Test
Thursday, December 21, 2006
The Mazda3 is a fine automobile. It is very popular in Canada and especially in Quebec. It has had a small number of teething problems but the 3 is still one of the better selections one can make in the highly competitive compact car segment. That is that.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
