Friday, May 04, 2012
The Dodge Caravan launched the minivan
craze back in 1983, and now remains as
the Grand Caravan. SUVs and crossovers
have gutted the market for minivans but
the reality is, there's no better or more
efficient use of space than the minivan.

Racing in the desert
Thursday, January 19, 2012
Did you happen to watch parts of the latest Dakar Rally? Auto123.com covered the event, obviously, although it was modest coverage. To tell you the truth, while I understand the fascination, this type of auto racing never managed to excite me. Driving at crazy speeds over sand dunes without proper safety measures seems pretty reckless and foolhardy.

Now call me biased if you like, but even if I weren't a Brit, the original 1969 The Italian Job would still be one of my all-time favourite movies. If you've never seen the film, you owe it to yourselves to track it down because it's not only immense fun, but perfectly demonstrates all that is Mini Cooper.

2011 Volkswagen Routan Highline Review (video)
Saturday, December 10, 2011
Yes, there must be a good reason for Volkswagen to have embarked on this adventure with Chrysler. From the onset, this deal seemed rotten, or sketchy at best. Why was, and is, a car manufacturer famous for its people-movers (aka hotboxes such as the Type II Bus) striking a deal with the maker of the best-known and bestselling minivan? To get its logo on one?

2012 MINI Cooper Coupé First Impressions
Monday, September 12, 2011
We're hurtling down the runway of an ex-military airfield at 200 km/h in a John Cooper Works MINI Coupé. The driver's footwork is a blur, the car dances at the very limits of adhesion as we slide around the hairpin, staccato exhaust blatts punctuating every downshift.

2011 Nissan Quest 3.5 LE Review
Sunday, September 11, 2011
Perseverance is a quality that many car manufacturers encompass, especially those who build and sell minivans. Spacious, practical yet unloved and ridiculed, the minivan also has a name that betrays almost all of them (save for the Mazda5). After all, they aren't exactly "mini" anymore.

2011 MINI Cooper Clubman Review
Sunday, July 17, 2011
Most of my girlfriends are not really into cars like I am. They are great at reminding me that women and men buy cars for different reasons. This week, one of my friends asked me what car I was driving, and I replied "the MINI Cooper Clubman". She had a strange look on her face, so I said "a MINI - just an extended one"; she still had a blank stare in her eyes. "The Italian Job?" I said: this, of course, she is familiar with.

2011 Chrysler Town & Country Limited review
Friday, July 22, 2011
Perceptions are a funny thing. What you think you are getting is more important than what you are in fact receiving. Thankfully, not everyone falls for that. Case in point, the Chrysler Town & Country. As we all know, the T&C is a glorified Dodge Grand Caravan with a little more chrome and a different grille.

2012 Mazda5 GS Review
Monday, June 27, 2011
Mazda is one of those car companies who seem to do no wrong. From the Miata to the brand-new Mazda2, there's very little to complain about in the Mazda lineup. After all, the Mazda3 was among one of the best-selling cars in all of Canada in 2009-that's quite a title to hold. Even the flashy RX-8, which has its flaws, sees more love than hate.

2011 Dodge Grand Caravan Crew Review
Monday, August 01, 2011
The number of available minivans on our market isn't very substantial which makes for interesting rivalries. Yet, there seems to be two types of target customers for minivans which is, well, a little confusing given how few are still offered. Proof: The Chrysler group sells two minivans, the Dodge Grand Caravan we're testing this week and the more upscale Town & Country.

Miranda's No. 1 Road Trip Vehicle
Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Sometimes you just have to get out of Dodge. It's nothing personal to your friends, family, job (maybe your job) or even the neighbourhood you live in; you just have to get away for a bit. We've all felt this way at least once in our lives, and I can bet at the very moment you wanted to jump ship you didn't exactly have the cash to drop at the airport for a flight outta there. Well, rejoice: There's a cheaper (much more enjoyable) option. The road trip.
