Not many cars cause heads to whip around faster than the Audi R8 GT, which debuted a year ago already. Today, the German manufacturer added another dimension to its creation with a Spyder version. The 333 units produced will fetch 207,800 euros (around 294,708 Canadian dollars) in Germany.

Having a really good reputation in Europe, ABT Sportsline made a big splash at the 2010 SEMA show by introducing their 2011 Audi R8 GT-R. The beast's 5.2-litre engine now develops 620 horsepower instead of the factory 525, along with a top speed of 325 km/h with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in an astonishing 3.2 seconds.

The Audi R8 may have gone topless, but it proves just as exotic while delivering the same exhilarating performance. Still, as far as first impressions go, I have to admit that the ''Wow'' factor isn't quite as strong now. And I'm not just talking from an innocent bystander point of view; at the AJAC's TestFest, taking the R8 Spyder for a spin felt a lot less compelling for many journalists on hand.

The Audi R8 Spyder is about to perform a pincer movement on the open-air supercar establishment as it adopts a new generation 4.2-litre V8 FSI petrol engine to run alongside the existing 5.2-litre V10 FSI. The new R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro is now available to order priced at £95,545 OTR for the six-speed manual version and £100,855 for the six-speed R tronic automated manual. UK customer deliveries will begin in January 2011.

Audi is adding another model to its R8 high-performance sports car lineup: Hot on the heels of the R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro comes another model with a V8 engine. The 4.2-liter FSI produces 430 hp and launches the open-top two-seater to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 299 km/h. The engine is mated to the R tronic sequential manual gearbox; quattro permanent all-wheel drive is standard.

Now even more powerful, lighter and faster: Audi presents a limited-production version of it R8 high-performance sports car, the R8 GT. The output of its 5.2-liter V10 has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp); vehicle weight has been reduced by roughly 100 kilograms (220.46 lb). The R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph).

Apparently, Audi thought the standard R8's 4.2 liter engine was a good start. This 420 horsepower V8 is a screamer, and it gets the aluminum coupe rolling in a very serious hurry. It's more than powerful enough for anyone who values their driver's license-- but apparently, some nut-jobs wanted even more sauce.

Convertible super car lovers rejoice! The R8 Spyder will soon be at your local Audi dealership. Pictures are floating around on the web and by the looks of the wheels, this bronze example would be fitted with the incredible 525 hp 5.2L V10. We expect that the mighty V10, which will most likely be joined by the lesser 420 hp 4.2L V8, will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or the semi-automatic R-tronic gearbox, with Quattro of course!

The convertible version of Audi's R8 supercar has been spotted testing in Germany without a hint of camouflage material and we have the best look yet! These latest images of the test car reveal that the new convertible will gain a conventional fabric roof but misses out on the R8's trademark aluminum side blades.

It won't be very green this year at the Audi stand. Sure, the Q7 TDI will be there as well as the compact Q5, but the big news is the Canadian intro of two high-performance models. Based on the new-generation A4, the 2010 S4 drops the 340-hp V8 for a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 that develops 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Gearbox choices will include a 6-speed manual and a new 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic automatic.
